Picnic Days in all Seasons

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a lovely weekend.

It was a bitter cold one here...colder
than it has been in many years.
Although I like winter I am happy
that it has warmed up.

Thank you Laura for the suggestion that
I do a picnic theme for a post.

I went through my old pictures to
collect some for this post....
hope you enjoy it!

Winter picnics with a thermos of hot cocoa and
a sweet treat are fun if you are dressed warm.

I have collected some old vintage picnic
baskets at thrift shops over the years.
This one got a coat of green paint.

I think this one is from my early years
of blogging. The mock orange in the
background was in full bloom and
has the most beautiful fragrance.

Thank you for visiting me today.

Take care,

Spring Around our Pond

Hello everyone,

We have had some beautiful sunny
days here on the Island so nature
is putting on a good show.
I love all the fresh green colors
of the new growth.

It was a beautiful calm sunny evening
so I love the reflection in the pond.

Our little Boathouse is a
sweet little escape .

The serviceberry trees are in full
bloom now.They grow wild around
the pond,ditches etc.

                                                             A little bouquet for you
                                                             to enjoy on this beautiful
                                                             long weekend.
I hope you have a lovely
                                                             Victoria Day weekend!

                                                                        Take care,

Autumn Beauty

Hello everyone,

What an amazing day we had here today.....
sunny and warm perfect for our fall
garden cleanup.

It would have been perfect for a fall picnic as well
but alas duty calls.
The picnic above was from a few years ago.

We often pass by this beautiful farmhouse going
to and from our home and cottage.
It looks especially pretty with fall foliage and
a reflection in the water.

Last week on our trip down east I took
these  photos that show the beauty of
autumn on the Island.

Before starting our fall cleanup in the garden
I took a few shots of the autumn beauty in
our garden.
It was a pleasure to be out there enjoying the
beautiful day as we cut down all the
perennials in the beds and hauled the top
foliage to the compost pile.
So far, this year we have not had a killing
frost so even the annuals are still
looking good in pots etc.
Last year by this time we had a hard
frost already.

This was taken last year on one of our walks
through the woods.

Our pond has taken on it's fall colors too.

Well that is a little peek at some of the
beauty that we are enjoying here now.
I want to make the most of it as all too
soon the leaves will fall and we will
be into November~ time flies doesn't it!

Thank you for visiting,

Carolyn

Relaxing Garden Spaces Part 1

                                                          Hello everyone,

I hope you enjoyed your weekend. We
changed our clocks ahead here in Canada
this weekend and I love having longer daylight
hours in the evening.Today, we have melting
snow and a promise of spring in the air.
I think many of us have had a long cold
winter this year so spring will be extra special
                                          to us.
I am looking back at some relaxing garden
spaces today. It is important to have pretty garden
benches around the garden so we gardener's can enjoy
the fruits of our labor or visitors can relax and take
                                          in all the beauty.

The bench above came from Homesense
and pretty pillows make it a comfy spot to
stop and smell the roses. The rose in the
                                                background is Snow Pavement.

Maybe, you would rather relax in
a hammock with a glass of lemonade
and a book while enjoying the peace
                                                        and beauty that surrounds you.

Another garden bench with lots of
                                                            hydrangeas to enjoy.
Or maybe, you would like to sit
on our screened porch and just enjoy
the view of the garden from here.
And, if you would like a change you can
always relax by the pond and watch the
                                                        wildlife.

If none of these are to your liking come back
soon and see if we can't find the perfect spot
for you to relax in the garden....part 2 coming
                                                       soon!

I am so looking forward to spring
                                                             and summer!

                                                                           Thank you for visiting,

                                                                                             Carolyn

And Winter Came......

             Good morning!

It is a beautiful snowy winter white
world here this morning as we had
our first snowfall of the season
overnight. I always love the first
          snowfall as it so dramatically
changes the world around us into
one of pristine beauty!

So come along with me as we
                          tour around our winter white
world. Our pond has a skim of ice
but also still some open water.....
            not skating time yet!

Love how the trees are laden.

                        Our little Boathouse in winter.

                                                                                The view from the porch.
                     Our woods in the background.
                Walking around the pond.

                          Our home and boathouse from
the far side of the pond.

           Our Gardener's Cottage on
the other side of our property.
This was shot from the upstairs
window.

Our home and garden in winter.
                                                                       Garden views

I hope you enjoyed a little tour
through the snow with me today.
I.know that technically it is not
winter yet, but for me winter
     starts with the first beautiful
snowfall or at least cold weather.
I think there is more snow on the way
in a couple of days ...hoping that
means we will have a white Christmas
this year!

Have a nice day!
