Hello everyone,
Last winter my husband and I gave one
of our guest rooms a makeover and I never
got around to sharing it until now.
So, the first thing we did was strip off
the toile wallpaper that had been on for several
years along with a few other layers that were
underneath....stripping wallpaper is one of my
least favorite jobs!
My husband put the pine board strips on the
old plaster walls and then we painted them white
on the bottom and soft grey on the top.
The antique dresser was painted
and I recovered the thrift store chair
in the corner.
This was the room before
Well, it did make quite a change in the
room and maybe updated it.
Visitors often say it is like stepping
back in time when they come here
so I am never sure if I will ever catch
up! Ha! Ha!
Thank you for visiting,
Carolyn

I bought new curtains at Homesence and
painted the armour the same soft grey.
The pine floors are original to the house,
so they are 100 years old. I would like to
refinish them this winter but we shall see.
The grey quilt also came from Homesense.
The antique dresser was painted
and I recovered the thrift store chair
in the corner.
A touch of Christmas on the
tea tray.

You have the midas touch in decorating. You're update is beautiful but with a vintage or antique touch! Love seeing your beautiful home! Happy holidays to you and yours! Sandi from the Cape
Very nice updating.

What a beautiful, restful room. I am not a fan of stripping wallpaper either. You did a wonderful job.
What a change! The guestroom looks very stylish!

What a great update! I like the board and batten look and the colors are neutral and modern, yet the room still looks appropriate with your home!
I really liked the previous wallpaper and accessories but I understand you wanted to update it.
It is still vintage with a modern twist and the room feels bigger. I like it very much as well.
When I see one of you post in my mailbox, I read it last to savour the moment I'll open it.
I appreciate all your posts where you show us your such lovely home and I sometimes think you have not shown everything yet. Sometimes I see doors, where do they lead ? Maybe to some too personal area ...
Thank you for the good moments you give me.
Merry Xmas,
