An Autumn Picnic

                                                                             Good morning!

                                                           With all the beautiful sunny warm autumn
                                                           days we have had this year, there have been
                                                           lots of days still enjoyable for an outdoor
                                                           picnic.

                                                                          Love this rusty old lantern.

I gathered up my old plaid picnic can and a wool

plaid throw and set about getting a picnic ready.

I hope you brought the food because alas my 

picnic box is empty!

                                                          A woody site by the water is perfect
                                                          for an autumn picnic with the sound
                                                          of the waves on the shore below.

                 This was a quick impromptu photo shoot today

                                                     but next time I will plan ahead and pack

      my picnic basket with goodies to enjoy.

                                                 We enjoyed a more relaxing weekend
                                                            and actually took time out to go canoeing
                                                            as soon the season will be past for another
                                                            year.
                                                                 Don't worry he didn't go without me!

Passing Beauty

                                                                           Welcome!

                                                   Every time we drive from our home to our
                                                   cottage we pass by some amazing beauty
                                                   so I thought I would share some of the
                                                   Autumn beauty.

                                                             I love this farm by the West River
                                                             so a few days ago as we were driving
                                                             past, it seemed like the perfect time
                                                             to stop and capture the beauty. I love
                                                             the Autumn colors and the reflection
                                                             in the water.

                                                           Prince Edward Island is beautiful in
                                                           all seasons!

                                                             Sunset on the West River is always
                                                              beautiful. I took this shot a couple
                                                              of evenings ago.

                                                                              
                                                                 I have some pretty summer shots
                                                                 of this beautiful spot but will have
                                                                 to dig them out for another time.
                                                                     I will be back soon with a 'walk in
                                                                  the park'.

Blue & White Tea Time

                                                                              Welcome!


                                                  We are having an amazing fall here and I
                                                  was going to post some lovely Autumn scenes
                                                  but strayed off course to share my tea time
                                                  at our little cottage instead.

Some of you might remember my

enamalware tea set from the 70

mile coastal yard sale this year.

The mugs were a thrift shop

find recently.

                                                                   Care for a blueberry muffin?

                                                                   We got our new floor laid a couple
                                                                   of weeks ago and it made a big improvement
                                                                   at Ocean Song. It is hardwood click floor
                                                                   in shades of grey. Our bathroom is almost
                                                                   done now as well ~ I will share that later.
                                                                   I know.....everyone one else moved on to
                                                                   Christmas(the stores are well stocked) and
                                                                   it looks like I am stuck in summer! Oh well,
                                                                   I will get there eventually!

                                                              This one came from Marshal's but they
                                                              have had it at Homesense here as well...
                                                              but they do go fast!

                                              Hope you can sit and relax for a spell and

Last Garden Tour of the Autumn Season

As we are coming to the end of October

we are also coming to the end of our garden

season for another year.

                                                          So, I thought you might like one
                                                          last tour. Today,is also the last day
                                                          for my Japanese visitors for this year.

                                                              We have many different varieties of
                                                              hydrangeas in our garden and I
                                                             especially love them late in the season
                                                             when they take on their pink hues and
                                                             add beauty to the late season garden.

                                                         We had a heavy frost a few nights ago so
                                                         the garden was covered in frost when I
                                                         took these shots.

I love this late blooming monkshood.

                                                                      The arbor that Andrew built adds color
                                                                      all year. Did you notice the Virginia Creeper
                                                                      going all the way to the top of the spruce tree?
                                                                      It will travel if left unchecked.

                                                                Now that we have had a heavy frost it will
                                                                soon be time to clean up the garden for winter,
                                                                cutting down all the perennials and hauling them
                                                                to our compost pile.

                                                                    One of the first arbors Andrew built for me
                                                                    about 26 years ago.

                                                                  one of our sons). This was taken a couple
                                                                 of weeks ago.

                                                                 with the frost.

                                            We have had amazing weather this fall with some days
                                                       still over 20 degrees Celsius, and beautiful autumn colors
                                                       but soon it will be November so we know it can't last and
                                                       the good news is winter has it's own beauty and the gardener's
                                                       get a rest!
