Early August in the Garden

                                                                         Hello everyone,

I can't believe it is August already.

August is the most colorful time in
our garden and in spite of a drier
summer than usual the garden is
                                                            doing well.
                                                                        Hydrangeas and monkshood.

                                                                            Clematis.

                                                                        Hollyhocks are blooming
                                                                        now as well.

This part of the garden is outside
our main door and also the front porch.
It is enclosed with a picket fence and
has an arbor in and another arbor out.

The arbor built by my husband,
                                                                        going into Chelsea Garden.

                                                                       Evening light in the garden.

                                                                       Looking over the picket fence.

                                                                            Our roses are blooming well
                                                                             this summer.
Well, that is a short tour around part
of our garden. Soon, I will share the
the rest of it while all the day lilies are
                                                                putting on their show.

                                                                                      Hope you are having a
                                                                                      good week.

                                                                                               Take care,
                                                                                                       Carolyn

It all looks gorgeous Carolyn! Haven't we had a great summer so far? I hope it continues although we do need rain. Our lawn is getting quite brown now.

Your place is so beautiful and inspiring! I was wondering if you might like to do a post on how you control weeds? We have such a problem with crabgrass, I can't seem to keep on top of it. How do you keep the grass from your yard from creeping into your flower beds? Thanks!

Hi Carmen,
We keep the weeds from creeping into the flower beds by edging the beds a few times a year and hoeing them occasionally.
In the spring we try to keep ahead of the weeds when they are still small and later our beds are very full so the weeds don't have the space to take over. Of course, even then you will always find some weeds.
Thanks for the visit!

Oh, how gorgeous! I'm wondering how long you've been working it...it's established looking. Mine is only 3 years old and obviously I have some catching up to do! Thank you for the inspiration!
