A Tour Around our Mid August Garden

           Happy Weekend!

I can't believe it is the middle of
                                                                         August already!
We have had a lot of hot sunny days
through out July and early August but
lately we have had some good rains to
                                                                      keep our garden green.

                                                                      Jackimani Superbra on posts

            The double hollyhocks are
 still blooming.
I love this color /plant combo
                                                              phlox,beebalm and a garden loosestrife.

Clematis

I like to have a few dahlias in the garden
for bouquets since they bloom until
                                                             frost.

This is the only oriental lily left in our
garden since the arrival of the lily beetle
about 10 years ago..I love the fragrance!
                                                                          The Hillside Garden.

One of our tour groups from Japan this week.

We have a 3 week break in tours from Japan
before starting up for the Fall season.
                                                                Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

                                                                                                              Carolyn

Your gardens are so lush and full of life and colour- just beautiful.

I think it is so neat you get so many tours from Japan....are they coming from cruise ships or how?

Hi Michele,
I think it is neat too! They fly here from Japan....no cruise ships.
It is all arranged through local tour companies.
Have a lovely weekend!

Absolutely Awesome! A garden like that takes a lot of time and commitment . The reward is breathtaking! You truly take time to smell the roses! Thanks for the tour! Have a great weekend!

Gardens usually wane in August, but yours certainly is the exception. It's gorgeous, Carolyn. ~ Nancy @ A Joyful Cottage

So beautiful Carolyn!

Just beautiful, Carolyn! I can see that you don't seem to be having the non-blooming hydrangea problem that a few bloggers have mentioned. Even mine - out of the three bushes I have only one bloomed this year. But my neighbor next door, it looks like all hers had blooms, so who knows what is going on.

Your gardens are just breathtakingly gorgeous. I have been to some botanical gardens that are not as gorgeous as your garden.

Your garden is so very charming, Carolyn! I love the photos and am jealous of the visitors - maybe some day! Do your Hostas take full sun? I have a hard time with them here - they get burned by the sun...love them so much!
Have a great week,
Kathy
