Our Garden Lilacs

Hello everyone,

I have been doing some garden
dreaming here lately while I
wait for the garden to return.
I hope you will enjoy dreaming
along with me..

The above lilac is called Sensation
and it is one of my favorites.

Lilac season is one of my favorite times
in the garden especially as  some of
their blooms overlap with the peony
season.

I love these Preston lilacs as they bloom
later than the French lilacs extending
the season and they also have a lovely
sweet fragrance.

A basket of beautiful lilacs.

I love big bouquets of fragrant lilacs.

We have lots of different varieties
of lilacs  in different colors.

My kitchen sink full of lilacs

Some years my lilacs bloom better
then others...... last year was a good
year for  blooms.

I had a lilac theme going on here on
our screened porch. I love
the very old handmade quilt
on the old iron bed.

I always enjoy making collages.

It seems like our time of isolating is
going to continue for a least several
more weeks so our garden will be
our safe haven this spring/summer
for sure. Now, if the weather would
just co operate so we can get out there
and enjoy digging in the dirt again!

If any of you would like to see my old

Stay safe and stay well!

Hello Carolyn,
what beautiful pictures. I love them all. You've such a big collection of lilacs. I've seen the beginning of your garden. It's gorgeous, what you've done in the last years. In the next days spring will come in the middle of Germany and than I'll digging in the dirt. I love this more than other things. Now I'm dreaming a little bit of your and my garden.
Take care and stay safe, too.

Your beautiful flowers bring some beauty and hope to my day. I love lilacs also. I have an old lilac tree on my property and planted a white one a few years ago. I'm looking forward to seeing them around the end of June in my area. Let's pray that everything will be better by then.
Stay safe and healthy. Thelma .

The colors of the lilacs are luscious. Most of all, I enjoyed reading "The Making of Our Garden." So much work, but well worth the effort! I always look forward to your posts. Thank you for sharing.

Oh, lilacs, so beautiful! We can't grow them here (well, a few low-chill varieties, but they're not nearly as gorgeous as yours). How long does it take for a newly planted lilac to get to blooming age? Stay safe, and please keep posting! Barbara in Southern California

What a beautiful inspirational blog! Lilacs are my most favorite flower and my bushes here on Cape Cod are just starting to bud out! I'm originally from Michigan and on the beautiful island called Mackinac Island off the tip of the mitten is where the two week Lilac festival takes place in June. You would love this place as the fragrance whafts through the air and is with you always! You can check it out online, it's right up your alley! Thank you for sharing the name of Sensation which I'll have to find. I saw them on Mackinac (pronounced Mackinaw) when I last attended the festival and loved them. Perfect blog of beauty on a cold rainy spring day!

Hi Sandi,
I have watched videos of Mackinac Island as I fell in love with it after reading about it in the Victoria magazine several years ago....you do know my taste! I would love to go there some day during lilac season. You are ahead of us here as no buds on our lilacs yet but I do have daylillies and iris growing now as well as some spring flowering bulbs.....excited to see. Our gardens are going to be our happy place for sure ,even more than other years.

Hi Barbara,
It takes a few years to get blooms but they do grow quickly once they get started. I have a Madame Lemoine that I planted 4 or 5 years ago and it had aprox. 4 dozen white blooms on it last year. I know you are busy in your garden now.

Thank you all and stay safe!
Carolyn
