Garden Season ~ coming soon!

       Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a good weekend in spite
of all that is going on around the world.

We had lots of sunshine and I don't know about
but that always makes things look better and perks
me up.

We spent a lovely afternoon sitting on the front
deck at the cottage. I was happy to see the little
song birds where singing away again.

I am really looking forward to  the return of our
garden so we can enjoy spending time getting it
cleaned up and ready for a new season. That will
mean we have no time for the world news!

It will be awhile before the garden looks
like this but I am encouraged to see some
daffodils poking up. We do still have snow
on most of our beds yet though.

So looking forward to tea in the garden.

Lilacs and clematis are two of my favs.
These pics are from my early blogging
                                                       days.

                                                  I

I love these rich colors in the garden.

Ah! so looking forward to
lilac season!

What about you, are you looking
forward to garden season too?

Hope you are staying well
both mentally and physically

Take good care!
Carolyn.

Good morning Carolyn and thank you for sharing your gorgeous garden pictures!! There is no more snow, here in eastern Ontario, but the days have been cool and wet over the last week. Today we are going to receive some rain in the morning and a bit of sunshine this afternoon with a high of 8 C! March is going out like a lamb!!! I am welcoming April with wide open arms!! There are small cowslips (primula) opening in my garden, and tiny Parma Violets with their heavenly sweet candy fragrance; the daffs and tulips are up about 4 inches. I can see slender shoots of scilla poking through the grass in the lawn. I can hear phoebes and robins singing as they flutter around the garden. Oh, I love spring!! Stay safe!! xoxo

I too love to see photos of your gardens. There is nothing as relaxing as puttering in the garden. We are expecting a sunny pleasant weekend and I am planning on heading out with a wheelbarrow and garden fork to start a bit of careful cleanup. Our chickens will be wildly excited about having some fresh new weeds to nibble on after a winter of having boring grain to eat!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful gardens! I’m envious! Do you have any hints on starting a garden(S) like yours? I’m in eastern Ontario and just recently retired and aim to work on the gardens here, we have 9 acres of mainly woodland, about 2.5 acres that is open for gardens and an 1880s farmhouse.
Thanks!

Hi Carolyn! Looking at pictures of your gorgeous garden goes a long way to keeping me mentally well! I especially love purple flowers in the garden, so your lupines, clematis and lilacs are a delight. I look forward to lots of pictures as spring starts to wake things up. Stay safe, Barbara

Hi Patriot Acres,
Gardening is a great way to enjoy your retirement. I think the best advise I can give is to make sure you have good soil by adding compost etc. and to make your beds big enough to have a good display of plants. There are lots of good garden shows on youtube like p.allensmith gardens or lovely English garden shows.I was addicted to good garden shows like The Gardener's Journal etc. in my early garden days. You can check out my blog post on The Making of our Garden if you would like to see the progress in our garden over the years.

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments and I have to say it is hard not to get a wee bit envious of those of you who already have blooms in your garden!

Take care,
Carolyn
