David Austin English Roses

                                                                          Welcome March!

March is here already and spring is
on the way.Although we had a good
winter here I am enjoying the warmer
temperatures and was happy to see a
few daffodils already poking through the
ground. Most of my flower beds are covered
in snow but on the few bare spots there are already
                                                       signs of rebirth.
Today I have a couple more garden books that I am
happy to review for Firefly Books.
I was especially delighted with The English Roses book
as I love David Austin roses and have several in our
                                                        garden.

This is a photo from David Austin's garden
that I would love to visit one day.
Can you imagine the fragrance and beauty
of so many David Austin roses?
The book is full of beautiful rose photos
and a description of them.

book contents

I love this rose called
Bathsheba although the
book is filled with beautiful
roses that I would love to have
in our garden.

                                                                 The book has beautiful photography
                                                                 throughout.

I think this book will bring hours of
pleasure to all you gardener's out there.

             Big Ideas for Small Spaces
had some good ideas for DIY
projects for your patio or balcony
or garden.

So if you are looking for
                                                                   some unique ideas to
                                                                  decorate your small space
check it out at Firefly Books.

A bouquet of beautiful roses
      from the English Roses book....
isn't it beautiful?

All this talk about roses etc.
has me longing for the days
when I can go out to our own
garden and pick a bouquet or
                                                                 enjoy smelling the roses!

                                                                 Our granddaughter Lila with
a small bouquet of roses for
                                                                  her tea party.

Looking forward to all of this!

I'm in love with David Austin Roses!

I'm hoping to buy a few this year! But which ones to choose, as they are all so gorgeous!

Which ones do you have?

Hi Deanna,
I have The Dark Lady, Mary Rose, The Generous Gardener, The Pilgrim,
Golden Celebration, Graham Thomas,Gertrude Jekyll to name a few.
I have lost some in the past if we had a very cold winter and not much snow protection.
I will be looking for a few new ones again this spring as well.
Always fun to have new choices to pick from.
Thanks for your visit,
Carolyn

Hi Carolyn
I too love David Austin roses - and as I live in the UK I have been able to go and buy some from the company direct. We went in June, and the whole 'rose experience' in their show garden was incredible! We really enjoyed sitting down and taking it all in! Gilly (Cornwall, UK)

Ah, yes. . .David Austin roses. They are beautiful, many are repeat bloomers, and the fragrance of so many of them is incomparable. That is always one of the things I look for in a rose is the fragrance. We've been very fortunate with the different varieties from DA, and I'd highly recommend this as a reliable source. Thank you for the visual treat, today!

I just received my catalog 2 days ago. I keep looking and looking and all I can say is....I want one of each! So hard to choose. When I watch Midsomer Murders on Netflix I look at the gardens now since I've seen all the murder mysteries several times over. One episode is extremely enchanting and I don't remember the name of the episode but a retired doctor lived in an old schoolhouse. Loved the house (school) and the gardens.

Love those David Austin Roses!! I've got two new ones to plant tomorrow, Desdemona and Boscobel. For form and fragrance, the English roses are far and away the best! Thanks for the pretty post.
