Today is Metamorphosis Monday and Tweak it Tuesday so I want to show you our garden bench project makeover from an old wooden bed.
I found this sturdy old bed at New London Joy shop last month-it was $40 and I was pretty
sure my husband would be up for a little DIY project. And sure enough the same week he cut the foot board in half and used the wooden side rails for the seat-he had to add one pine board at the back to have enough. One side rail went across the front underneath. He built a frame inside under the seat with 2 by 4's and screwed it all together.
Then I gave it a couple of coats of creamy white exterior paint and we were all done! I love how solid it is and it looks pretty good too! Thank you Andrew for a job well done.
The before shot.
Now you can sit on it for awhile with a cup of tea and a book.
I picked a beautiful garden bouquet for you and used my old antique pitcher.
I am joining BNOTP for Metamorphosis Monday.
Also, joining Cozy Little House for Tweak it Tuesday.

Love the color. Great transformation!!
I knew your hubby could work with wood, this is fabulous! He's clever to foresee the possibilities of an old bed frame.

Beautiful bench! The flowers in the pitcher are so lovely!
Hi Carolyn. I love it. We are so blessed to have husbands that are so smart. Susan
Carolyn, that is a beautiful bench! Andrew is a great carpenter/builder to make that out of an old bed.
I absolutely love your bench - how creative! Your whole blog is so lovely, thanks so much for sharing your wonderful talent!
Hello Carolyn,
wonderful your little bench.
I built such a bench last year.
You can find it on a post of mine with the title: Verwandlungskünstler.
It wasn't finished there, but now
it is. I'll show that soon.

Great idea to change the bed in a beautiful bench, your husband did a great job. Lovely antique pitcher you used for the gorgeous bouquet of gardenflowers.
Fabulous!!! Gorgeous. I will be searching out old beds in my yard sales. My hubby could do that too.
THanks, Ruthie from Lady B's Time for Tea
Love this bench. So pretty and so clever, it even looks like a project that I could do. Thanks for sharing such great inspiration.
Love this Carolyn. I got a headboard in the soring (no footboard) but haven't had the nerve to start a bench yet. Maybe it's a winter project for me....J

Carolyn I love the bench and New London Joy as it is one of my most favourite shops on the Island. What a great DIY. Yes, wonderful job Andrew. Now to get my hubby to go have a look, lol.
