Hello everyone,
I have been spring cleaning lately,a bit early for some but I need to get the inside done before garden season starts so it is a good time for me to get it done. One of my little spring jobs today was to take down my collection of Friendly Village china which speaks of winter and dig out my vintage Crown Ducal Florentine (made in England) which speaks of spring and summer.
I love these dishes and I was lucky enough to get most of them in one shop for about $40.
I did mix and match just a little once again.
It was a lovely mild day here but mainly cloudy so I didn't have good light for taking my photos but you will get an idea of how they look anyway.
My husband's grandmother had some of these dishes and I always loved them.
I love when a set includes covered veggie bowls too.
I had a platter or two before but the rest all came together. Most of my collections of transferware I collected here and there ,one or two pieces at a time usually-which can be fun too if you are patient and as a Mama of seven I think I learned a thing or two about patience!
If you would like to see last spring's blue & white transferware dishes on display in this cupboard you can click here.
Well, that was the fun part of my spring cleaning chores-after that it was off to my bedroom closets where I always end up being cross at myself for being a' bit' of a hoarder. However, once I get started on weeding things out and donating I feel good about getting it done. Then, for awhile I stay away from the thrift shops but you know what they say"old habits die hard". Is there a support group for people like me??? Maybe we could all swap our stuff! ha!ha!
Thank you for visiting,
Carolyn

Very fun post and oh how well we understand your "problem"! Love the new spring look of the cupboard.
That is a beautiful set. The cupboard looks wonderful .
Hahahaha... your 'problem' is shred by quite a few of us I should think!! My closet has been waiting for me to work on it for weeks...
Hugs, Gee
If you find a support group let me know, I do the same thing, weed it out, only at our house Mr. S says lets just thin it out a little huh...and I do good for awhile until spring has passed...love the beautiful dishes, so pretty the pink rose...
Beautiful china and the price was too.
Such a beautiful pattern, Carolyn! Definitely perfect for Spring and Summer. You got the set for a great price, too. Funny you mentioned Friendly Village, I've just found a few pieces recently. That is a very rare find for me. I have the teacups and saucers I just fund displayed right now, but you are right ~ it is more of a Winter pattern.
I love this china pattern and can't believe you got all of them for only $40.00! What a bargain!! I need to start cleaning closets too but I usually end up just moving it all around! Help!
Your set looks absolutely beautiful in that pretty hutch. And what a bargain! It's nice to go for a softer look in the spring. I've been doing a lot of early spring cleaning as my daughter is getting married in May. Not only will we have guests from out of town, there will be a photographer here and I don't want any dust bunnies showing up in the pictures!!
XO,
Jane
What a lovely hutch filled with incredibly gorgeous china!
I love how everything goes together so well but isn't all completely one set.
It is true eye candy!
Been VERY dark and dreary here, too - I waited as long as I could hoping for sun - the sun we had this week I had to be in a car for 7 hours, so missed that opportunity.
Pretty post, Carolyn!
I've always said, I do have the "gathering" gene but I also have the "purging" gene so I'm thankful for that. I'm in weeding out mode here too right now, but mainly because I have some goodies coming in the mail this week from Ebay and I need to make some room. LOL :) Thanks for a lovely post!
HI Carolyn
You just head over to the shop if you need some help with purging, I can help...LOL...
Can you please give me a call...
Blessings Lori ~
It feels so fresh to have the Spring things brought back in view again. You have a splendid set!! Great post, loved the photos!
Wow Carolyn, your vintage china is just eye candy. That Crown Ducal pattern is so soft and delicate and your photos are just beautiful. Your home is so lovely. I just love looking at your posts, they are truly inspiring.

I was thinking about spring cleaning the other day, but I don't want to do it yet. I usually wait to do it in April, preferably towards the end of the month. Spring cleaning actually revives me. It is great freshening up the decor and getting rid of stuff that takes up space.

Of course there's a support group - it's here! I'll start, shall I? 'Hi, I'm Andi and I'm a hoarder.' That wasn't so difficult, and I know all my friends in blogland will support me in my need for charity shop shopping! :)
Poprostu zazdroszcze (pozytywnie oczywiscie) takich cudownosci! LOL
O how beautiful again. I am almost in love with all your china!
Oh your china displays so nicely, and I really like the crocheted lace edging. It really does give it a sweet, soft old-fashioned look. You have planted the idea in my brain that I should be getting started with my Spring cleaning. I'm not much of a gardener, but I'm a wannabe, and as such, I should learn from the experts!
Oh, Carolyn. If there were a support group for thrift store shopping junkies, I'd be in a first row seat. ha ha ha The only problem would be that I wouldn't want to give up the shopping! ha ha haha
Love the rose china. SOOOOO pretty. And I love the lace triangles lining the shelf edging.
Great job! Susan
Hi Carolyn,
Love your dishware. It's all so gorgeous. When you finish your closets, wanna start on mine? XO

Very pretty love the roses...with love Janice
Oh Carolyn,
I can so relate! When cleaning out, I get overwhelmed by how much stuff I have and swear off shopping. But it sure doesn't last long! And look what all of our collecting has yielded!
But I find it so much easier to clean out a clothing closet than a china closet.
