Snowy Days

                                                       Hello everyone,
We had a blizzard here that lasted a couple of days but late this afternoon the sun came out and the wind died down so I guess you could say we have weathered another one!
This is a shot I took after our Monday storm. It was so cute to see these little love birds(mourning doves) sitting on the snowy branch by the bird feeder.
Peeking through the trees at our new 'boathouse'.

This is a photo from a previous winter in our garden. Love seeing the bluejays and the northern flicker together as they shared the suet.
This is just before our last storm. Love when the trees are laden with snow.
The next few shots were taken on our drive a few days ago to Rustico and on to Cavendish.

The Sandspit a summer attaction is Cavendish looked rather pretty in the snow.
I liked the cow up on the roof of the Cow's Icecream store.
This was shot late this afternoon so you can see we got a bit of snow but now the sun is shining again.
It took about an hour to shovel out our driveway and walkway-not as bad as we thought it would be.
It was a nor'easter so it blew snow onto our veranda so maybe I should have moved my poor old rocker but then we wouldn't have had this pretty picture!

Hope you all faired out well  if you were hit by this storm-I think many were without power in the New England states so I hope that it has been restored for everyone now. I think that is it for snowstorms for awhile- I heard we are getting rain in a couple of days.

Thanks for visiting,
Carolyn

  2. It certainly does look pretty, Carolyn, but I am glad to not have been around any snow storms for the past couple of winters now. I think I had my fill when we lived on Long Island.

  4. Your pictures are absolutely stunning...the snow is just so beautiful, maybe because I don't live in it or have to ever deal with the problems it brings, it sure is so pretty from where I sit..thanks for sharing the lovely photos

  5. It's all a snowy wonderland, Carolyn. You mentioned Rustico; a friend and I rented a renovated farmhouse there a couple of years ago and loved our stay in the area. The local fish market was the source of some delicious things for dinner!

  7. Hi Carolyn,
Love the snow pics, especially all the birdie species. Midge is wondering where the cuckoos are. Oh, my, that feller! Lol
Hope you are enjoying your movie this evening - I think we did see the one you and Andrew are watching. I bawled the entire way thru Letters to Juliet - I dunno what kind of mood I was in cause I've seen it a hundred times! Haha Now, where are those Breathe Right strips so I can get some sleep without feeling like I have a wicked head cold. :-)))
EnJOY your week ahead. CONGRATS on your pics in the current issue of Flea Market Gardens!! Well, done!
    Hugs,

  9. Great shots, Carolyn.

We fared well with the storm in western Massachusetts. Grateful we didn't lose power and grateful our neighbor used her snowblower to do our driveway. Hubs did the sidewalks and stairs and I "unburied" our two cars.

Take care and have a nice Monday. Susan

  10. Hi Carolyn, again beautiful pictures. I adore the love birds. Here on Cape Cod..lots of folks lost their power..we did not our lil neighborhood. Yes we pray for Cape Cod and many other towns to get their power restored soon. Thanks to all the town and state workers. Stay dry this coming week. Karen..acapecodnest

  15. Oh, my! Fabulous winter scenery, great candid pics. I LOVE the birds. You have birds we do not see out here in So Ca. I was thrilled to catch a glimpse of a Black Headed Grosbeak the other day and included it in my blog post. Last year we were delighted by a Western ScrubJay and a nesting pair of Orioles! The Mourning Doves visit daily and we have 6 pairs that stop by to use the birdbath. Nice blog :)

  16. Incredibly beautiful photos, Carolyn. I'm so in love with the boathouse, I may have to ask your advice in an email.

And what fun to see the jay and the Northern flicker together. We have Stellar jays, who are beautiful but bullies, and they definitely do not share with the flickers that we love very much. They are so gorgeous!

Thank you for another wonderful post.

  17. Beautiful pictures as always. Just love your pillow hat, and I didn't think it was a cake, lol.
You have some more snow there than here, but I think it's enough now. I long for warmer days.
Have a nice day at your place.
    Love Elzie
