Hello everyone,
I hope you had a great weekend! I have been working on some projects lately-early spring fever maybe. Anyway, one stormy day last week, I dug out my sewing machine and made a simple slipcover for this little arm chair that was a freebie from a friend.
I used to do a lot of sewing when my children were young as I made a lot of their clothes but only seem to do small projects now. Anyway, I had an old chenille bedspread and I cut it up for my humble projects.
The main object of the day was to give the chair a makeover but with the scraps I made this little slipcover for the lampshade and 3 pillows of various sizes, like the one on the bed.
The slipcover is very simple but I think it has a tidier look then just using it as a throw over the chair and I am looking for a casual shabby chic look anyway.
This little table was $7. at a yard sale and a coat of paint and a few new screws made a big improvement in it.Also,I like the spool legs and the small size-perfect for a bed side table.

Well, that is my shabby chic on the cheap for today. A free chair and an old $2 bedspread plus a few hours labor and we were done!
We are now doing a makeover in our downstairs bath that I will show you later.
I am joining Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphsis Monday,
and The Dedicated House for Make it Pretty Monday.
Thank you for visiting and I hope you have a good week!

Goodness I just wish I could get my chair and table done! Actually I have several chairs that need slip covering and not a few little tables. Maybe your post was just the beautiful inspiration I needed!
Having a blizzard today but am puttering in my craft space instead of sewing.

An admirer from afar!
Nicely done, Carolyn! The chair cover looks great and I like that you got a few other projects out of that bedspread.
Your chair looks great and that lampshade is just the cutest thing.
The chair turned out so cute, what a sweet little chair, so perfect for a little corner in the bedroom..pretty pretty
Gorgeous, Carolyn, I adore the look of old chenille bedspreads, I've used them for the very same kind of things. I love your little makeover, it's so pretty!
Oh, you are so talented, Carolyn. I could never do that.
You are so lucky you can sew.
I think the room looks terrific and it was not a heavy burden on your budget!
Great job. Susan
Oh my! Love this room. Shabby, my favorite. Cheap, even better. Girrrrl, you are good. This little room is Shabby Chic heaven. I want to go there!
What a pretty make-over from your chenille spread!
Makes me think about what I could do with the stack of Chenille spreads I have............

so wish I'd seen this post BEFORE I got rid of a king size white chenille bedspread I had :(. Oh well can't save everything, lol!
Dear Carolyn,

Perfect, I love what you have done on the cheap. Always on the look out for chenille, it always looks good. x
Great inspiration! Love the bedspread slipcover--and the lamp :)
Ładne zmiany!!!!

Beautiful new look. I like schabby chic very much.
The chair slipcover came out fabulously! My friend Donna does that for a living. She buys chenille bedspreads on eBay and uses them to make slipcovers for chairs and even sofas. This is her store in New York.

As always everithings looks beautiful here!
I like the before and after shots, it helps if you're handy and can sew. Good repurpose of the old bedspread.

I love the chenille slip cover and that old table looks perfect there. What a fun little room this is for you to play with.
Those are really cute ideas, Carolyn! You're able to visualize an idea and make it become real so splendidly. It all looks so cozy, too. As always, I adore your blog! Blessings for a wonderful week, Bess
that slipcover is a big improvement to make the chair look shabby chic. Very pretty, and I like the cute lampshade. Have some of the same Waverly print pillows. It looks charming on the bed. Nice work too on the nichtstand.
Enjoy the fruits of your labor!
Beautiful job, Carolyn! Your chenille slipcover is such a great idea. I think we get more personal satisfaction decorating with flea market finds and making them beautiful. Love your new little table and those legs, so cute! Glad you found it and made it pretty again!

Frugal and beautiful Carolyn. Chenille has such a quiet tactile beauty and that is why I adore it.
Your slip covers for the chair and lamp look lovely Carolyn! Such a metamorphosis. The chair looks much better with a white cover! Well done to you.
Have a lovely new week!
