Hello,
We had a cool damp day today so it was a great day to have my friend Janice(above) come over for a fireside tea in our little library.
Unfortunately, because it was a dull day I didn't have good light for taking pictures as I don't like to use my flash. Janice waited patiently for me to take a few photos before I served her tea!
I used these Spode teacups that I bought on a trip to Maine last year.
We enjoyed oatmeal scones with whipped cream and Lemon Curd(thanks Sandi) .
I have a few Spode plates that match the teacups.
The teapot was a gift from my husband a couple of years ago.
I love the coziness of the wood burning fireplace on a cooler day.
I took these shots on a sunny day a few weeks ago.
This is a handmade lace tablecloth -lots of work!
Janice and I had a lovely visit and didn't mind a bit that outdoors it was wet and windy as we snuggled up to the fireplace with out tea!I still have some scones if you would like to curl up with a cup of tea by the fire.
I am joining Between Naps on the Porch for Tablescape Thursday again.
Take care,
Carolyn

Oh would I love to curl up with tea and scones by this fire. What a beautiful room. Love the Spode too, but my heart is singing as I still think of your transferware. Soon very soon I will be at the antique shop looking.

How nice to have a pretty tea by the fire in this lovely room! I miss having a fireplace, it adds so much atmosphere. This looks like a nice room to curl up and read in, too!

I agree... what a lovely way to spend time with a special friend. And in such a beautiful setting. It was a real delight to see your photos!
Thanks for sharing....
A sweet repast - that scone with the cream dollop looks incredible! Totally on my "no" list - but, I can dream! Your blue and white Spoke is so pretty - and that lace tablecloth - reminds me of my grandmother's work!
Joy!
Kathy

Dearest Carolyn,
Oh yes, any time I would like to snuggle up to the fire with a tea.
Your hand crocheted lace tablecloth looks regal. So glad you got those 'sunny' total view photos. But you're right, for a tea it doesn't matter; the windier, wetter or colder it is outside the better!
Love to you,
Mariette
So cozy and so pretty! What an adorable setting!...Christine

How perfectly charming...everything from the cozy, warm, room to the lovely table with it's amazing tablecloth. The fire in the fireplace just completes the setting.(-:
Your cozy library provides just the right setting for a gracious tea with a friend.
I love your library, so cozy and inviting. Always a pleasure to come to your blog ~
Have a blessed weekend....
Dear Carolyn,
I see I missed your last post. PEI looks beautiful in the early morning mist. We have the same sort of weather in Holland at the moment; a bit hazy with a few rays of sunshine now and then.
Your library looks very inviting. Your friend must have had a lovely time with you! The bakes looks delicious.
Have a lovely day,
Madelief

Save me a place beside the fire Carolyn, we only have a gas fireplace and although cozy warm, not quite the same effect.
You served a nice tea for your friend and it was nice of her to pose for you.
