Garden Views

Hello everyone,
I popped in to share a little more of the garden as it is changing on a daily basis as more and more peonies etc. are coming into bloom. I think all the moisture and cooler temperatures have been good for the garden as blooms seem more plentiful this year.

This is the view from our screened porch on the south of the house.

This is the opposite side of the same garden area but looking west now.
This is the center bed.
This is the terrace that Andrew built several years ago but this spring he replaced the roof as the old one collapsed with the weight of the snow. The virginia creeper had to be cut back severely but it is quickly growing again. I like when it covers most of the top as it gives shade for those summer meals.
The Miss Canada lilac is a mass of color and fragrance by the terrace.
I love having these lilacs that were bred in Canada as they are later then the french ones,so it extends the season.
We have been enjoying our visitors from Japan- they are always amazed at the space and that Andrew and I do all the gardening ourselves. Our little summer cottage is a popular spot!
I hope you all enjoy this lovely long weekend!

Carolyn

Your gardens are just beautiful and something I aspire to. I am going to show my husband the pictures so I can show him what I would eventually like our gardens to become.

Dear Carolyn,
In honor of my mom who was born in Canada, I could not resist growing a Miss Canada Lilac is my garden. My Lilac Lane is filled with Lilacs and my favorite is Miss Canada. She produces the best blooms. We are so lucky to be on this beautiful planet!
Happy Fourth!
Kindredly,
~Shirley

No wonder the tourists like to visit your garden Carolyn, it is so spacious and full of colour. Having a large property certainly allows for more varieties of plants than a small one like ours.

Like your Japanese tourists, I am amazed that you do all the gardening yourself. The photos are so stunning to look at; I can only imagine what it must be like to live in such a glorious garden.

wow, your garden is just breathtakingly beautiful. I LOVE that Miss Canada lilac. It looks just like the lilac next to my neighbor's apartment. I even snapped a photo of it. So I'll have to check it out :)

I also really enjoyed the covered gazebo area. I just think it would be so lovely to sit out there on a nice summer day with some tea, pastries, good friends etc :) :) Have a great weekend. love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :) :)

p.s. You recently celebrated Canada Day, right? I hope you had a great day :) :)

Your gardens are absolutely beautiful! Just the inspiration I needed-my hillside garden has been destroyed by a fallen oak, so I have to start again.

It's just amazing, Carolyn! David and I do all our gardening, too, and it certainly doesn't look like this. We are still dealing with the weeds and overgrown shrubs from our cool, wet spring. But you're right – it seems to produce more blooms!

Our peonies are over but our roses are just getting going so we will sit in the garden and enjoy them!

Happy week to you, – g
