My Summer Veranda

Hello everyone,
We had our fist summery day today and I was happy to be able to enjoy eating out on the veranda again.Yesterday,I spent some time getting it ready for the season as we store all the wicker and the iron bed etc. in the barn for the winter.

I still need to do some little finishing touches to it but this is what it looks like for now.We put the shutters up to block some of the summer sun and also the wind. We used to have a big tree that shaded this end but it had to come down a few years ago.
If I am not out in the garden this is where you will likely find me.This porch is screened in and even on a warm rainy day I love to relax out here. This is also where we eat almost all of our meals.

The summery linens.
The Apricot Beauty tulips are blooming now.

I would like to stain the floors ivory but for practical purposes they a dark taupe. In the evening it is nice to relax on the bed with a good book.

I hope you enjoyed a peek at our veranda -well,half of it anyway. I will show you the rest of it later.

I am joining My Romantic Home today for Show and Tell.

Also joining French Country Cottage for Feathered Nest Friday.

Thank you for visiting,

Carolyn

I love your summer veranda. I put a day bed in our sun room for the summer. It's one of my favorite places to spend time in the summer. I'll bet you get a lot of peaceful and restful time in your beautiful veranda. Thanks for the lovely post. :-)

I love this veranda - such a nice spot to enjoy a meal or have a nap. How do you keep bugs from coming up between the floor boards? Do you have screening underneath? I'm just wondering. It was up to 22 here today but will be cooler for the weekend. Enjoy the long weekend!

Dearest Carolyn,

Looks lovely and I hope you will not get 'rain' inside on the bed... Depends on the wind I guess. A big tree makes quite a difference indeed, it saves a lot of energy as it blocks the cold, the wind and the sun. But what can you do if it is bad?!
If you have time, please see my blog of today about a lady in France that got featured in the French Style magazine of May/June with her incredible ROSES. http://bit.ly/lHobhi
Enjoy your spring and hope you manage all the work that comes with the garden in summer time.

Lots of love,

Mariette

Sigh, sigh, sigh. Could I please come and disappear from the world on your lovely veranda? The sun lighting up the tulips is so enchanting. I want it to wash over me, too, as I just sit and soak in the beauty. Sigh, sigh, sigh. Thanks, Carolyn. Susan

Here we have had summer weather mixed with fall since April. Now it's sunny and warm and it's so nice. I hope it'll last but I've heard something about rain, blr!!
Hope you have a nice weekend.

Very pretty! I would love to create something like that on our back porch. I have a question that I think someone else mentioned, How do you keep everything from getting wet? Our porch is always getting wet when it rains and the wind blows. Also we live on a mountain and have some hard winds that blow everything off my porches, even my flowers sometimes get blown over and they are quite heavy. If you have any pointers on how to fix something nice that wouldn't blow away or could stand getting wet, I'd love to hear of it. God Bless

Oh, Carolyn, how lovely!! That's certainly where I would spend my time if it were mine! We have no screened in porch, but I did manage a nap outside on the deck on the chaise lounge covered in a vintage quilt with my scottie, Maggie for comany. Aaah, spring....
