A New Dawn

Hello everyone,

With the cooler days it has finally dawned on me that summer is over for another year and I have many fall chores that need to be done. We only have a couple of house & garden tours left and they are not until mid October. So,I think it is time to put away the summer wicker, chop down the dying foliage ,plant some new bulbs and tidy up the garden. We still have a few things yet to bloom and fall foliage colors add interest for the next few weeks but the garden is definitely winding down. Yes, I am sad to see it go but it still holds beauty for me even in the winter as snow covers arbors, trees, shrubs etc.. I do look forward to moving back indoors too-cosy fireside teas, root vegetables baking in the oven, apple cider simmering on the stove, pumpkin muffins and hopefully a little Fall trip to some of our favorite places-for everything there is a season! Anyway, I am rambling now so I will let you enjoy the beauty of this New Dawn rose.

New Dawn

New Dawn in toile.

New Dawn in my new 10 cent vase from the yardsale.

New Dawn on my garden hat.

The angel is the base of a new lamp from the yard sale-$3.

Well, now that all this has 'dawned' on me I better get to work!

Thank you for visiting me

Enjoy your day!

What a beautiful rose. I love the delicate color! It does look like the soft color of the sun on the clouds. What part of the country are you in? It's still in the 80's here in San Antnio, TX (I guess that's considered cooler compared to 100 degrees two weeks ago)

Sounds like you have a whole lot of work ahead of you, but Autumn really is a lovely time of year, isn't it!

What an exquisite rose! I love the colour of it. Cute lamp base! Looks like you got yourself some wonderful buys at the 70 mile Yard Sale over the weekend. Looking forward to seeing what else you may have gotten. Have a beautiful day.

Hello Carolyn,
I was studying the photos of your New Dawn and must say I am surprised by its colours. New Dawn is normally of a pearly pale pink almost white when it fades and yours has apricot hues.
May be it is due to the climate and soil ?
Nevertheless, it is a beautiful rose and so are your photos :o)

New Dawn is my favourite (and only) climbing rose that scampers over a trellis in the front and another in the back.
You have displayed yours in a way to make any gardener want one.

Dearest Carolyn,

That is a dream of a New Dawn rose! Yes, it sure did dawn on you...
Thanks for sharing this. Wish it would be cooler here too but still HOT in Georgia.

Sunny greetings,

Indeed, you are right. The cooler temperatures change the colors of leaves and roses as well. I have a yellow one which is almost pink now !
All is depending of the temperatures and humidity.
It adds another quality to the roses, isn't it ?

Dear Carolyn,

I feel exactly the same about the summer fading away. A bit sad to see all the beautiful plants dissapear again, but happy to look forward to the snow, Christmas and the spring bulbs. I would not want to miss our seasons!

Enjoy the last day of summer!

Lieve groet, Madelief

Every time I see a beautiful rose it is always from Canada. The rose must love the climet there. Or do you have a special secret that produces such beauty?
