Autumn Beauty

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend! I went to an auction sale today-my first in a long time. I think it will be my last for awhile too. I did, however, get a few good buys but a couple of things I really wanted went over my budget-don't you hate when that happens? They did have lots of beautiful dishes but it was a very long sale so I didn't stay for all of it. I came home with my usual array of cracked and chipped old dishes that no one else even bid on- I wonder why? Ha!

Anyway, I will show them to you later.

I wanted to share some autumn beauty from my garden today.

I picked a few flowers from the garden-enough to fill my basket.

So then I made a lovely fall bouquet to enjoy.

It is interesting to watch the little songbirds eating the coneflower seeds and the robins especially are loving the black elderberries. I hope they don't mind me picking a few.

I love this obedient plant-some of them are real spreaders but this one that I bought at a yard sale several years ago has stayed in place not sure which variety it is though.

I like how these look together.

Now, I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Carolyn

Your fall bouquets are beautiful! Amazing what you still have in bloom this time of year! So hard to come away from a shopping trip, even an ES without the items you really wanted. Looking forward to seeing what you DID buy!

Dearest Carolyn,

Don't we ALL know that feeling when being so much in love with something that is being snatched up by someone else with a bigger wallet?!
Never mind, you seemed to have had a great time and it pays off for coming home to such an abundance of fall flowers as you show to us. Enjoy as long as you can, before winter is coming along and it all is gone. But with all your precious photos, you still create spring/summer/fall for the remainder of the year too...

Sunny greetings from Georgia,

Good evening Carolyn
Your Fall flowers are beautiful. We have had frost here in Saskatchewan so everything is finished and the Fall yard cleanup begins tomorrow.
My first auction was 12 hrs long and I did get the antique sofa table I had wanted for a good price..I think everyone else had left! I am sure I bozzed a few times as I kept dropping my bidding paddle. lol
Have a great week!
Hugs,
Wanda

Lovely colours Carolyn! SO much still going on in your garden....beautiful!

I am now reduced to a few white and pink blossoms here and there...but not nearly not enough to even think of making a colourful arrangement! (My favourite is your arrangement the lovely wiry stand!)

Happy Sunday!

Hi Carolyn,

Lovely flowers. They look very nice in the basket too. Yes, it is very annoying when you´re overbid ;) But it is fun being at auctions.

Have a great day,
Sanna

Wow! What a great blog you've got! I just signed in so that I don't miss anything :o).
The fall bouquets are just great and you inspired me to go out in my garden and bring some flowers inside. Usually I just hate to cut them only for me... I'm always thinking I'd miss them later in the garden LOL.
Take care and greetings from Switzerland
Alex

The elderberries are a nice touch in your bouquet. I pick a few to eat myself when I pass by our bush but have never thought to snip them to add to flowers in a vase.
I'm sure you'll enjoy the treasures you bought that no one else wanted.

Wow, you still have a lot of flowers this time of year. Beautiful bouquet you made out of them.

I've never been to an auction although I've always wanted to go. A friend was going to take me once, but she's an antique seller and her husband talked her out of letting anyone know where she buys her stuff. Darn!

I love chippy plates, so I'll look forward to see what "new" things you have.

Beautiful colour combinations ~ Autumn is my very favourite season~ soft & mellow with lovely warm days but crispy cold at night. I look forward to seeing your chipped plates!
