Subtle Changes

Hi everyone,
It was cool and rainy here today so I worked on doing some little touches inside. I think little touches can make a big difference. So,I thought I would share a few new touches in our bedroom.
I know some of you have seen our bedroom before but I think I mentioned that I was having trouble finding fabric to match the gold and rusty colored toile wallpaper.
So,as luck would have it I found some toile that I had used on a table on the veranda one summer that had faded from red to rust so I was able to make the pillow shams with it.
Then I found the pillow in the background at a thrift shop.
I also found the chenille type bedspread that is a golden color there.
The two small pillows I made awhile ago from a dress from the thrift shop also.
I also found a Ralph Lauren king size bedsheet that matched so I made the tablecloth and some valances with it and the topper is the faded pillow fabric. So,now I am happy with how the bedroom is finally coming together. They are subtle changes I know but I think they make a big difference. Don't you just love when you find little treasures?
Thank you so much for visiting me and next time I will show you our fireplace makeover.

Take care,

Make do and mend is such a lovely idea but I've had to grow in it. Actually, I've been forced into it. =] But, it is so fun when I realize that I had treasure - the perfect thing - right under my nose all of the time! I ESPECIALLY love it when I find a bargain!

Your rooms are really beautiful - so soothing! I always wonder if people are really interested in my interior decorating but I am surely inspired and encouraged from seeing yours.

Thanks for sharing!

Love, Katy Noelle

Dear Carolyne,
your bedroom is a dream, so cozy and relaxing. The colors you've choosen there are perfect and involving. I really love it and I wonder when my home will be "full" of all the things I need to sorround me with. We have moved 3 months ago to our new home and, as you can imagine,it will take some (a lot) more time to get to the final,I think there is never a final result,I am always evolving, as you are I think!A nice day to you dear Carolyn.Francesca

I so love the bedspread and reminds me of my youth as I use to trace the patterns done in the spread.

Great matching as this blends well my dear. B&B's have nothing over you.

with love,

Carolyn - you are a decorating whiz!! I need to let you come roam through my house - your creative eye and your sewing skills would come in very handy :) Heck, you might as well walk through the flower beds too - but I'm not sure I want all that weeding . . .

We celebrated our 50th with a party in December. Just still cashing in some gifts. One still to go, a stay in a hotel on the beach.

Dear Carolyn,

Very well done! That makes a nest for reading and for romance or lazy mornings with breakfast in bed!
The fabric and color coordinating selections work very well; very soothing to the eye as well.
The crochet-edged doily on the tray is a rosy darling too...
