Guest Room

Hi everyone,
I hope you enjoyed your weekend. It is rainy here again today making it difficult to get garden clean up done but worse still the farmers are having a hard time to get their crops in.
Anyway, today I am joining the creative Cielo at the 'House in the Roses' for her 'show us your cottage' theme. This can be a room in your home, so I am showing a guest room in our home.
Some of you have already seen some photos of this room, but it has been awhile, so I'm hoping you forgot!
This room is decorated with simple furniture from 'yard sales' etc. giving it a cottage style look.
Now that I have taken these pictures, I see I have a design flaw(maybe more then one)-the one that I see, is my lamp is a little on the short side but pretend you don't notice!
I got this lamp at a thrift store and spray painted it cream. The blue toile lamp shade came from the Christmas tree shop. It is blue toile but hard to tell with the light on but on a rainy day I was having a hard time to get enough light without the flash.
Breakfast in bed anyone?
Our home is aprox. 87 years old.

linens and lace.

I hope you enjoyed a peek into our "cottagey" guest bedroom.
To those of you who wanted the recipe for the pumpkin spice muffins I will share it tomorrow. I am having company for supper and I am experimenting with gingerbread pumpkin trifle if it turns out I will share this one too if it doesn't I won't even mention it again!!!
Thank you Cielo, for hosting this fun event at the lovely House in the Roses. Please go and check out the other 'cottages' if you haven't already.

Thanks for visiting,

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,
Truly lovely, I love all the lace and the crocheted (table linen or bedspreads?) they are so beautiful. I have two very much the same made by my great Grandmother but they were made for the table.
All your touches in the room make for a peaceful retreat and a treasure of a room.
I received a note from Cielo and will join in very soon for "Show us your cottage theme".
Enjoy your day,
Elizabeth

Carolyn, may I come live with you? All I can say is "sweet", to quote my granddaughter. That is the ultimate compliment, according to her vocabulary, and I would have to say that this room is absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to see what you will do next.

Blessings,
Mary

Marvelous!! what a wonderful room--everything ties in so well. I am wondering where you got all the linen and lace? The wallpaper is wonderful too!! I have a question --I noticed you had a chenelle type spread thrown over a chair. Does it produce lint if you sit on it?

Cozy, comfy, a room filled with serenity. If I needed a solitude getaway (and who doesn't)I could see myself staying in your guest room easily! Tea, muffins and a stroll through your lovely gardens would be a perfect mini-vacation. Carolyn, it's so obvious how much you love and cherish your home. Your peaceful spirit shines through.

Even if I hadn't forgotten, I would have still loved these pictures. This room has such a special feel to it, but I imagine your whole house does. I love the chenille covered chair in the corner. What a wonderful place to curl up and enjoy the sound of the rain on the roof.
I love the way you decorate...it is just so lovely.

I love blue, cream and white mixed together so this room is all in my liking! For example, I chose a blue and white toile wallpaper for our kitchen! Everyone thought I was crazy but it turned out really pretty.

Nice little bird´s nest you have there =)
