Summer Garden Favorites

                                                                      Hello everyone,
I have been going through a lot of my old photos lately and thought I would share
a few of my favorite shots of our summer garden ~ hope you enjoy coming along.
I love to have different places to sit to enjoy
                                                  all aspects of the garden.
A balcony view looking toward the pond ....facing east.
Looking forward to lilac season again!

Love the color combination of the coneflowers , plum
bee balm and phlox on a misty morning.
The most colorful time in our garden is early August.
Love the different hydrangeas ~ this is a shot taken
                                                    from the road.
Early summer ~ looking toward the pond.
Another balcony view facing west this time. Our Gardener's Cottage in
the distance with over 60 garden bus tours booked this summer we may
have to hire a part time garden helper this year. For many years Andrew
and I did all the 'work' ourselves but last year our son helped out and
hopefully we will again this year.

Late July in our Chelsea garden ~ time for tea?

                                                         A painterly effect.
                                                  Martha in her sheltered garden.
A garden view from the screened porch.
The arbor that Andrew built several years ago
                                                      has aged nicely.
                                               Love tall and stately delphiniums.

Just looking at all this color makes me excited for the return of our garden.
The view from the north veranda looking toward our barn.
I am happy that this photo was published in the new
Porches and Gardens magazine on the stands now.
Looking forward to having lunch in here again.

The rose garden has really filled in the past
couple of years ~ it is at the south side of the
Gardener's Cottage. If you would like to see
inside our little Gardener's Cottage click here
to see the different looks it has had.

I am sure all of you gardeners are looking
forward to getting out in your gardens too.

                                                                                    Thank you for visiting,

  21. I am so pleased to see all this beautiful colour today during this white blizzard we're experiencing. ;) I bought the Porches and Gardens magazine yesterday but didn't know that was your photo of the clematis. I did notice the photo on the very back page though and thought it was your porch with the screen doors. Am I right? Exciting to see!

Yes, you are right that is our porch on the back page of Porches and Gardens.

  27. Wow, I'm even more impressed that your family does it on your own! How fun to have bus tours. You deserve it; I know how hard you work on all of this, even though fun and enjoyable. You are one talented lady, Carolyn and hurray for you for bringing "Downton Abbey" style beauty to the world. Blessings.

  28. I forwarded this blog to my daughter who is recovering from a broken ankle and she emailed back, "I want it all, but without the work". We live on a farm, so we know about the work. Thank you for a touch of spring. My crocus are blooming here in NEKS

Hi Carolyn, I just think your home and gardens are just beautiful. Do you and your husband do all of this yourselves? The colors you use are some of my favorites. I love the way you laid out everything and added benches, etc. to make it even more inviting. It's gorgeous. I love your blog. Thanks for sharing.

  57. I'm truly impressed with the way your garden looks like...It's really neat! Where did you get that rustic bench? It's awesome, could sit there whole days and watch my garden! It must be really relaxing! Yes, lilacs are also one of my favourite flowers. Most often I buy 'Asiatic' Lilies. They grow quite high. I always put them into ground in a special baskets so their bulbs are safe. Year by year I order them on https://gardenseedsmarket.com/lilium/ ,where in the spring season choice is enormous!
