Our Christmas Bedroom

                                                                    Hello everyone!

I spent most of the day  doing Christmas decorating and I have pretty much finished our bedroom so I thought you might like to see it because if you are like me you love Christmas house tours.
This year our bedroom had a completely different look from last year as it had a big makeover in Febuary/March. So with a more neutral background I thought for awhile about how to decorate it this year to make it cosy and Christmasy. If you would like to see the makeover click here.
So I decided to give it some touches of plaid and used what I had with a few new thrift finds.

The cranberry throw on the end of the bed is a Pottery Barn throw but from a thrift shop in Summerside for $2. The valance around the curtains on the bed were in the kitchen last week-remember I like change!
The tree in the corner was also a thrift shop find about 6 years ago for $20. so I think I got my moneys worth.
I love the Nativity scene on the mantel-my reminder of the real reason of the season.

       Some added whimsey
Presents under the tree. I like the mix of toile and plaid.
                                                          A wreath for the mirror.

My Scottish Santa in his tartan coat.
A comfy chaise(formerly in the kitchen bay window.
A propane fireplace keeps it cosy and warm.

                                                 Love the night time glow.

Well, that is my Christmas bedroom for this year. If you would like to see how very different it looked last year click here.

A Winter Vignette

                                                                       Hello everyone!
The weather has turned colder here and we even had a few snow flurries last night. I know it isn't actually winter yet but it seems like fall is over and I am geared for winter now.
Winter Solstice by Rosemunde Pilcher is a lovely book to read especially this time of the year. I think I have read itat least three times now.
A cup of tea and a good book by the fire is one of my favorite ways  to relax in winter.

Hope you are having a good week.

I am joinng Common Ground for Vintage Inspiration , the Charm of Home for Home Sweet Home and My Romantic Home for Show & Tell Friday.

 Thanks for visiting,
 Carolyn

Changes in the Kitchen & a New Wreath

                                                                Hello everyone,
Yesterday, I made a few changes in the kitchen before starting to decorate our bedroom. This bay window has had several different looks over the years-I know, I like to play house a little too much. Any way, we moved the chaise that was here up to  our bedroom and put this little cabinet that I painted white into the bay. I put up the longer curtains as the evenings are dark now so I didn't like the blackness of the windows at night. That makes sense doesn't it! My husband has noticed that I love change(a little too much) so I have to justify myself !!!

I got this beautiful hand crafted wreath from Lise a friend of my daughters and if you would, like to have one too you can order one  by contacting Lise at   lmthomsen@live.com
I love how it looks on the mirror in the library.

But it also looked good in the kitchen on the old shutters.

Leise also makes these adorable sock monkeys and has a limited number available for anyone on the Island who would like one for a little one. The sweet little one hugging this one is our grandson Lucas and he is NOT for sale!   Contact Lise at  lmthomsen@live.com.

Thank you for visiting me and please let me know if you like change too so my husband will know I am 'normal' after all!!!
note: if you leave a comment saying you are happy to leave everything the same- I will have to delete your comment Ha! Ha!

I am joining Savvy Southern Style for Wow Us Wednesday and French Country Cottage for Feathered Nest Friday.

Take care,
Carolyn

A Sunroom Christmas Tea

                                                               Hello everyone,
I hope you enjoyed your weekend. There is a definite chill in the air here now but so far nary a flake of snow even though some parts of Canada had a good snowfall.
On Saturday, I thought I should clean up the sunroom and give it some Christmas color. I find I am loving red and white this year so it is showing up in a few rooms for the Christmas season.
When it was cleaned up what better why to enjoy then with a nice cup of tea in my old red and white transferware teacup.
The urn got dressed up with some greenery from the garden.

I love these sheep cookies that my friend Heather made for me-she probably thought I would eat them all but good as they are-they are just too pretty to eat!

I love my red and white transferware all year long but especially at Christmas time.
I moved my paperwhites up here as they needed some cooler night temps to slow them down.

                                                        Love this angel-don't you?

I am to be slower getting our house decorated this year maybe because we are not on a Christmas house tour as we were the last few years but it is slowly coming. I am working on our bedroom now and will soon share pics of it. Can you guess the color scheme? If you guessed red and white go to the head of the class!  Ha!Ha!

I am joining Rose Chintz Cottage for Teatime Tuesday today.

Well, now that I have had my tea I think I will go back to my Christmas decorating.

Take care,
Carolyn
