Hello Everyone,
Hope you had a great weekend.
We have been getting a downpour here today and a lot more rain is expected for tomorrow so we are making up for our dry summer.
I got in the mood to do some Autumn decorating one day last week. So I gathered up some of my Fall/Autumn linens and got my husband to put up the old lovely wooden doors from the Restore. The bed was one that I had bought for our grandson at Coulson's in Summerside a few years ago and he has changed to a single bed so this one(a 3/4) came back to me.
An Autumn vignette on the table with old books ,a birdhouse and dried hydrangeas from our garden.
The needlepoint pillows add a nice warm touch. This tea set is the perfect match .
Where do you think this little nook is-can you guess?
On a sunny warm late summer or Autumn day this is the perfect place to curl up with a book.
And even on a warm rainy day like today it was a great place to relax and listen to the rain.
If you guessed it is our veranda you were right!
This is the other end of the screened porch/veranda where we eat our meals.
The reflection in the old mirror over the bed.
This is the summer look that it had before I started to give it an Autumn look.
I am joining Matamorphsis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch today.
Thank you for visiting me.
Carolyn
That is the perfect spot to curl up with a book on a chilly Fall or rainy day, Carolyn! I would be quite content to take a little nap, too!

ReplyDeleteYour little nook is so beautiful. I love how you coordinated everything. So warm and inviting.
ReplyDeleteAll those colours combined are beautiful. I find them very calming. I love the old bed. It reminds me of one we had for our children years back. Your table is so inviting. I would love to have tea there.
ReplyDeleteThe summer look is beautiful but the Autumn look just warms my heart!
ReplyDeleteI love the deep rich jewel tone colors of Fall and you have captured the spirit of Autumn beautifully!

Dearest Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely lovely!!! Your delightful decorating puts me in the mood for cooler weather and hot chocolate. The greens, oranges and browns are so pretty.
Your Autumn decorating has inspired me to get with the program sort of speak. I have got to dig my scarecrows out of storage this week.
Hope I can get 'er done,

Just beautiful, Carolyn! Question about your veranda...is it screened only, or are their windows as well? I was wondering how you keep these beautiful things dry when the rains are heavy, or accompanied by wind.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so inviting! Perfect for autumn! After our hot summer with extreme drought conditions, I am so ready for it!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Autumn look, so welcoming!! Jackie in Surrey, UK.

I really like the way you combined fabrics and prints. Is it difficult to keep linens clean on a screen porch?

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely place to cozy in and listen to the rain! I love the warm colours that you've used.

Ok, I'd agree.. I could take a mini nap every now and then in this area. I could see candles lit when dusts hits.. and and cozy quilt, soft music. Of course after I had my luncheon with you and done up the dishes.
ReplyDeleteI note that you and I do much the same.. the take down, clean up, paint if necessary, then reset for the new season. Hubby has finally gotten used to this.. but he too loves the results.
Oh, he wanted to know about the doors used as a privacy screen. I love the stain on them too, perfect for fall.
warm hugs,
Cotton Peony

ReplyDeleteHi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteYou are the master of staging, a perfect cozy rustic autumn setting tucked in the corner of the veranda, delightful! It's funny because when I see your veranda, this is exactly what I would want to have (if I had one :-) a cozy corner to sleep in... to daydream in! Love the view thru the mirror!!
We have had a very dry summer. I have never seen anything like it, we are still waiting for the rain. I am sure you and your garden are enjoying it!
Hugs,
Bella
My word! Autumn seems to have hit just as suddenly on your porch as it's come here! Overnight, it seems... and I'm thinking NO! NO! NO! NO! NOoooooooooooooo! sigh.
ReplyDeleteBut this is making me think that it's not so bad, after all! =]
It's really lovely and festive and cozy, Carolyn!
