A Sunny Autumn Day Garden Tea

Hello Everyone,
I am happy to have you stop by for another cup of tea in the garden on this beautiful autumn afternoon(these shots were actually taken a couple of weeks ago).I love the light in autumn but I had to block a little sun for us with the umbrella.
The old bicycle above used to be my Dad's -when he was in his 70's he used to skoot around town on it.

I am using black and white toile today and I picked a lovely bouquet from the garden for our table.I love the toile vase they are in.

I do have a collection of black and white transferware but smaller then my red and white collection. I do find transferware in any color hard to resist-don't you?

Sorry, this pic is a bit washed out-all that sunshine!

An old basket full of hrdrangeas.

An old toile trasferware sugar bowl with an interesting history that came tucked away inside it.

If you would like to read I included a photo of it-hope you can read it.

Some hydrangeas and ivy in the cones on the arbor-built by my husband several years ago.

Sit down and relax for awhile and I will pull up another chair.
Well the garden has taken on more of it's autumn look in the last couple of weeks but I will have to give you a tour soon-it may not be as pretty as earlier in the season but it still has it's charm in the golden light of autumn.
If you love transferware you must visit Nancy at Nancy's Daily Dish as she has the biggest collection I have ever seen and she sells them in her online shop.
I am joining Sandi today for Tea Time Tuesday again where there is always a welcoming cup of tea for all who visit her as well at Rose Chintz Cottage.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Carolyn

  8. I love your new header!! The Fall tea table looks so inviting.. I can't get enough of your transfer ware. I have chosen to stick with collecting red and blue only as I just don't have the room anymore to store & display it. Thank you for sharing the beauty in your life!

  9. Glorious autumn day, Carolyn!

Love the sugar bowl and its story - I do recall you showing it to me when I visited. It's always so fascinating when someone takes the time to tuck a little history inside, and so thoughtful, tool...The antique teapot in the sidebar of my blog had a tiny note inside as well. I think that's what I love most about it!

I love the cones on the arbour filled with the ivies and hydrangeas - they are my favourites at this time of year. The hydrangeas seem to have a patina to them in fall.

I am always in awe of your many collections of transferware and so love to see them. I always enjoy seeing the endless ways in which you style your teas...Keep 'em coming! No pressure! Haha

Wishing you a beautiful sunny day!

    Hugs,

  10. My dear Carolyn,
Your photos are gorgeous and your toile tea has me swooning! Is there anything prettier than toile in the garden? I think not. Absolutely stunning! Your hydrangeas are lovely and add such a sweet touch to the table. Love your Dad's bike! It's nice that you have it. I remember him, you know! Thank you for sharing; it's delightful! I'll be in touch soon.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  13. Hello Dear Carolyn...Imagine finding that note inside the sugarbowl! What a great story. You should write it and submit it to a tea magazine with photos. It's a sure seller!

Hope your day is beautiful today. Your post is awesome, as always. Susan

  15. Hi Carolyn,

Wish you had done this post days ago! My Mom and I just got through decorating one of our porches for fall and used a bike, a plaid pillow, and a black chair. However, yours put our efforts to shame! You always have a true talent for decorating to make things look like they've come straight out of a magazine. Thanks for continuing to share your beautiful garden with us!

  16. Carolyn, it looks just perfect. And, I do have a time resisting transferware in all colors, but the blacks and the reds are my favorites. I love the yellows, but I haven't found a piece to purchase - yet.

  18. Carolyn, I am always amazed at the beauty in your garden and how you can set such beautiful tablescapes outdoors. I love the black and white toile theme. The sugar bowl is very interesting with it's historical note inside. I have a couple of things that had notes in them too - a precious way to pass on the history. Pamela

  24. What beautiful dishes! And what an artifact that very old sugar bowl is. It looks like black flow blue. The letter is pretty fabulous all by itself. What a find! And combined with your usual panache!
