Bathing Beauty

  Hello everyone,
Today I want to share a vignette reminiscent of a time when life was more simplistic.

This little vintage bathing beauty basin made me remember going to my grandfathers house where there was no indoor plumping when I was a little girl. Back then a basin of hot soapy water was as good as it got!

I like the look in black and white.

Back then they made there own soap but these pretty hand soaps came all the way from Italy.

I love my old blue and white transferware pitcher and the little toile candle is pretty cute too!

A basket of pretty soaps
Well that is all I have for Show & Tell Friday today but there is lots more to see at Cindy's My Romantic Home.

Thanks for visiting me

Have a great weekend,

Carolyn

  1. Dearest Carolyn,

Thanks for your visit and well wishes!

Oh, how I love those luxury Florentine soaps... They keep my linen closet also smelling good. Each time I change the beds, they're perfumed too.
Indeed, fond memories of times when luxury had a whole different meaning. Guess my grandparents in their younger days had never any other soap experience than the one you so well captured through your lens!

  3. Lovely! I adore hot baths...especially when I get home from too many hours at a cold rink watching my daughter skate! I love a bath tub that is separate from a shower. Now, I want to go take a bath!

  5. Lovely post. I can remember the same thing when visiting my Grandmother when I was little. You have brought back many memories. I love the blue pitcher. I have one just like it with a different scene. I love filling it with white hydrangeas in the summer. ~~Sherry~~

  6. Such pretty pictures. My mom tells stories of when people in her family didn't have indoor plumping either. In fact, my childhood home still had two outhouses on the property even though there had been plumping there for years. Nobody really used them anymore because someone who lived there before us used them to store their trash, but as a child I had this fantasy of using them since I used to watch Little House on the Prairie.

Yes, I know I just admitted I am weird. And I've aged myself terribly. But at least these days I'm glad most of us have indoor bathrooms these days!

  10. Lovely vignette Carolyn. Beautiful items and I can almost smell the perfume in the soaps. We use liquid soap in our bathrooms, but I still love to have some soaps in a bowl to perfume the bathroom. Have a lovely weekend, Jackie in Surrey, UK.

  23. Hi Carolyn
You've brought back a memory I'd forgotten about. Too bad my grandmother didn't have the pretty and sweet smelling soaps you're showing; she had bars of ivory.
