Early Spring Garden

Hello everyone,

I hope you are enjoying your weekend. We spent the day working in the garden-it was so lovely to be out in the sunshine and see the promise of so many good things to come, I took my camera out to snap a few shots of what is blooming in our garden now.

There are lots of daffodils in bloom in various sizes and colors.

The peonies are really shooting up now. We have over 100 peonies so there will be lots of bouquets coming along in June and early July.We are a couple of weeks earlier this year then last.


The hyacinths are blooming and sending up their lovely fragrance.

another heuchera -I thought it was lime rickey but it looks a little different then I remembered. They do have dainty flowers later on but it is hard to beat the lovely colored foliage of these tough little plants.

The lilacs are covered with lots of buds-it has been frosty at night lately so I am a little concerned that the flower buds on some early trees and shrubs will get frosted but hopefully not!

We have over 40 lilacs in our garden all different varieties so it should be quite a show when they bloom.

That is a peek at what is blooming in our zone 5b garden here on Prince Edward Island ,Canada.Well,I am off to soak my weary bones in a nice hot tub-the first full garden day will ensure a good nights sleep with dreams of good things to come!

    What a treat to get a peek of your beautiful spring blooms. It's already heating up here in TX. My bluebonnets are just about spent. Spending lots of time in the garden though. Makes me happy!

    I can't imagine what your garden must look like with all of the peonies in bloom! I only have a few and they are gorgeous in full bloom.

    Carolyn you take such beautiful pictures. It was a lovely tour through the garden to see what is blooming. I hope you used some Epsom salts in the bath to ease those aching muscles. I hope the rest of your weekend is enjoyable. Take care.

    Your garden is lovely. We have already had all the early bloomers come and go in Arkansas. It was a treat to see yours. I would love to take a stroll through your garden and soak up all the fragrances and sights. Thank you for sharing.

    Sigh -- even our lilacs are gone -- the peonies and iris soon to bloom! Love those early flowers -- spring is wonderful!

    Apparently the UK is about six weeks behind in the garden. I've spent all weekend gardening. There's nothing like a soak in a hot bath after a day's gardening. Thanks for the tour. It's always lovely to see other people's gardens. xx

    I just wish the early spring blooms would last longer. I love hyacinths and jonquils!

    Magical spring flowers, even here in it's finally warm now and everything so beautiful blooms. The wonderful scent of the hyacinths runs through the garden.

    Carolyn, I find it so very interesting to see what is blooming in different zones. That rebirth in each area of the world is amazing to see. Our daffodils bloomed about two months ago and are now spent. I have been busy in my area tying them to the ground and adding fresh pine straw where needed. Our azalea's are now spent too but I did manage to take quite a few photos this year. My roses are just beginning to bloom now which I always look forward to. I was particularly interested to see how the peonies emerge in your photos. I dearly love those gorgeous blooms but alas we are unable to grow them in our area, zone 8.

    As always you are such an inspiring gardener and I look forward to seeing more of your garden as it unfolds.

    Your garden must be gorgeous with such a variety of plants. I haven't lived in Canada for fifteen years, and I'm amazed at how much is blooming there in April. We don't grow lilacs here in south GA and I miss them.

    I am so happy that your garden is beginning to bloom and that you are enjoying wonderful spring weather! All of your flowers are so beautiful!!! Isn't it so exciting to see your garden come to life again? God is so good! We are in a zone 8, so we don't have harsh winters like you do, and are able to grow a few flowers throughout the winter months, but when spring arrives it is so exciting to have the all of the roses blooming and the perennials coming back.
