A Small Project and Blossoms

Hello everyone,
It is wet and windy here today but each day brings new growth to the garden and more and more blossoms. I have been busy getting garden clean up done and  a few little projects so I missed posting for a couple of days.

We have several different varieties of Daffodils coming into  bloom now. I am also enjoying watching all the birds in the garden. The Goldfinch in the centre is so pretty with his yellow spring coat.
It is so good to see the garden centers well stocked again for the season.I will have to get in to see what is new this year.
Now to show you my little project for this wet rainy day. I finally found a new white  umbrella and I had a thrift shop bedskirt that was trimmed in crochet lace-so I cut it off and sewed it onto the umbrella edge.

I have always loved umbrellas with the lace edging but have only seen them in pictures so now I have my own romantic lacy umbrella. I still have a little work to do on it as the pole etc. needs to be painted white I am sure you will be seeing a lot more of this umbrella over the summer in several settings! Now as,you can see the garden is just starting to grow but soon it will be filled in with lots of color. We are actually a little ahead of last year.

Our Stellata magnolia is in full bloom and has such a sweet gentle fragrance.

.
I picked a bouquet for you!

Sorry, for the empty post earlier today-The change in blogger has me confused and I thought I was just enlarging some photos on an old post and reposting but I accidently posted an empty post instead.

I am joining My Romantic Home for Show & Tell Friday , The Rose Garden in Malevk for Show off Saturday and Feathered Nest Friday at French Country Cottage.

I am also joining Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Monday.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Carolyn

Wowzers, Carolyn, my darling! You never cease to amaze me with your talents! Umbrella designer to top 'em all off! Haha That is absolutely beautiful.

Midge just cannot believe all the blooms in your garden already. Few garden centres are open here yet. I'll tell you all about the Garden Show when I get a chance to breathe next week...

Best wishes to you and Andrew for a fun spring!

I love your lace edged umbrella Carolyn. A great idea. It's nice to see some colour in your flower gardens. It is cold and wet here in Alberta and I know it has been there as well. Hopefully May will bring warm and sunny days. Blessings, Pamela

Lovely, Carolyn!

And I *esp* love that finch!!!!!

Your blooms are gorgeous too, and very clever with the lacey umbrella.

Maybe paint the wood too, for a certain look on it?

Can't wait till it warms up just a little more here.

Have a wonderful weekend!

I am loving that umbrella--how beautiful! Maybe you can help me? I have an old huge lilac bush that this year has blossoms but almost not leaves and is looking almost dead. Do you know what I should do to try to revive it? We had snow recently and my husband thinks that caused the problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Such a great idea to add lace to an umbrella like that, Carolyn! I'm amazed to even see a white one and the lace just makes it so romantic looking. I can't even imagine the work you must have to do to get your gardens in shape for the season ~ clean up mostly up sure as really, they are already "in shape".

I had started to dread the clean up of our beds in our old house. It just became overwhelming trying to do it {on my own} after working a 40 hour week. Now that we are in a condo, I can still plant some flowers and pots to get my flower fix, but don't have to deal with the maintenance aspect.

A warm summer day and a glass of lemonade would go well with your romantic spot in the garden.

Love the trim added to the umbrella, what a great idea. It always surprises when I see the different blooming times, I must be 2-3 months ahead of you. Kind of nice to relive the daffodils and spring blooms on the trees!

I love your lacy white umbrella! The daffodils and magnolia have finished in my garden but it's been too wet and cold to really appreciate them. Everything is growing fast but it's a bit like a jungle out there at the moment as I haven't been able to trim the edges or do any weeding because of the awful weather we're having.
The goldfinch is a beautiful little bird and quite different, apart from his size, to the goldfinches that we have here.
