On Golden Pond

Hello,
As some of you know this summer we had a pond made on our property by Ducks Unlimited and we are enjoying it so much.In the beginning it looked like a giant mud puddle but now it has filled up more and the muddiness has started to settle.

We have planted some serviceberry trees, viburnum, grasses etc around it and in the spring hope to plant some white flowering crabapple trees.I love how the trees reflect into the pond.

A mirror image of our house.
My husband built a little dock for us to sit and enjoy the view and the sounds of nature.

We had our first duck visit us this week-hopefully he will bring friends the next time! It was so peaceful watching him swim around the pond.

It is my new favorite spot for a cup of hot cider or hot chocolate.
Hot chocolate anyone?

Will you have the apple cider or the hot chocolate?
On a beautiful autumn day it is the perfect place to relax!
Our son gave us a rubber dory to row around the pond on.Our old wooden dory leaks so we have to find a way to fix it -so it is for looks only at the moment.

Hope you have time to sit for a spell!

I am joining Courtney at French Country Cottage for Feathered Nest Friday.

Also joining My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday.

I hope you all have a lovely relaxing weekend!

We lived in the country for 18 years and had property and a pond much like yours. Never could we sit anywhere near it for the bugs would eat us alive. A different one for each season, lol!

Hope you have better luck.

You have your own national park! Was there any water there before? It just opens up the area and lightens it as well. I imagine you will have Canada geese there next spring! Magnificent!

Sigh... What a serene setting, Carolyn! I just love looking at the pond. You'll surely have tons more photo opportunities. I can't wait to see it in winter.

Kudos to you and Andrew, and all your family members, and the people at Ducks Unlimited, too, who contributed to this wonderful creation. It gives me goosebumps! Doesn't that little duck look as though he is so pleased with himself that he found your pond...What lucky duckies!!!!!

Sweet post today, my friend.

Hugs,

Wow, you built a really large pond. I am sure you will enjoy it. Ours started as a small puddle for cattle to drink from when this was pasture land. We had it enlarged a few years ago. Ours is spring fed. We have a vein of granite under our property and several natural springs.

It's interesting to hear that Ducks Unlimited helped establish your pond. We live 3 hours south of Fort McMurray by car but closer "as the duck flies". 17 years ago we had huge flocks of ducks flying into a little lake closely but in the past 5 or 6 years we've only seen a handful of ducks. It's big news that last week I saw a flock of 25 or 30 fly over our land. We suspect that the loss of ducks is because they've landed in the "ponds" at Fort McMurray. Your pond is beautiful surrounded by the autumn leaves.

Carolyn, This added element of water truly makes your place a unique paradise on earth. I have loved watching the process and now to see your magic touch of charm draped over the chairs and dock . . . delicious. How lovely to have your first duck!! Oh, the wildlife you will now have visiting! The reflections are stunning. I look forward to seeing your plantings develop too. Beautiful photographs. Congratulations on the christening of your new pond! May you have many flocks to follow! You have created a gift for both yourselves and wildlife. Well Done!

This would be a dream come true for me to have such a place by water. I dream of a dock with two Adirondack chairs, just as you have. You have styled them so beautifully too. Send my welcome to the duck too. Dreams do come true!

Hello Carolyn
The pond is really nice and big. Is it spring fed at all or do you have to rely on rain to keep it up?
It certainly has added a cottage charm to your property, lucky you!

Hi Carolyn...

Your pond is AWESOME, my friend! Ohhh yes...I could spend the entire afternoon out on your little pier...just taking in the beautiful scenery! I have seen a few of your photos (before) of your chairs on the pier but didn't realize that they were taken at your very own pond. I really do think it's fabulous!!!

You certainly did set an inviting hot cocoa, my friend! Lovely photos!!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful pond with us!

Thanks so much for coming by for a visit! I sooo enjoyed your sweet note, my friend!

Warmest autumn wishes,
Chari

BOYCOTT AMERICAN WOMEN
Why American men should boycott American women

http://boycottamericanwomen.blogspot.com

I am an American man, and I have decided to boycott American women. In a nutshell, American women are the most likely to cheat on you, to divorce you, to get fat, to steal half of your money in the divorce courts, don’t know how to cook or clean, don’t want to have children, etc. Therefore, what intelligent man would want to get involved with American women?

American women are generally immature, selfish, extremely arrogant and self-centered, mentally unstable, irresponsible, and highly unchaste. The behavior of most American women is utterly disgusting, to say the least.

This blog is my attempt to explain why I feel American women are inferior to foreign women (non-American women), and why American men should boycott American women, and date/marry only foreign (non-American) women.

BOYCOTT AMERICAN WOMEN!

BRAND NEW: Buy the Boycott American Women book. After reading this book, I promise you that you will never even think about dating an American woman ever again, or else I will give you your money back. That's right, if you are not convinced by my book, I will give you a full refund!
