Hello everyone,
Hope your week is going well.
I had planned to do this post from down south
but I had internet issues there. As you may know
this is the boat house
that my husband and son built a little over a
year ago. I have shown
bits and pieces but today I have more photos that I
haven't shown before. There are still some little
touches to be done but I can show them later.
We used old windows and doors ,spindles and
some old wainscoting as well as a couple of old
barn beams. The posts on the porch were also
recycled,
I love how it reflects in the pond.
Some of you might remember that I got the old
door and the old iron bed at the 70 mile yard
sale last September ~ both for $20,
The little conservatory on the back faces
south and we used old french doors in
here.Although it is small I love it!
If you would like to see more of
it click here.
A small porch across the front
to sit and enjoy nature.
It has already had a few changes
as this was before the iron bed.
Andrew's grandfather was a carpenter
and this was his handmade ladder that
Andrew treasures.I kind of doubt that
either of them imagined it with linen
and lace!
The little nook is a cozy place
to enjoy the view or read a book.
It has an electric fireplace for ambiance.
The loft is a favorite place for our grandchildren.
This was the first year for this flower bed and
it did well for a first season. We used soil
from our own compost pile.
I can't wait until we can sleep out here
again.....it is such a peaceful retreat!
The view from the side so you can see the tiny
conservatory and the nook for reading etc.
There are still little finishing touches to be
done.....you know how I love to play house!
Most people love to linger for a spell when
they visit and some want to move right in...
but alas I claim first dibs on it!!!
I am sure you will see lots more photos of
it this summer.
I think Andrew and our son did a great job~
don't you?
I am joining French Country Cottage

Thank you for visiting,

Your husband and son did a wonderful job! I think the boathouse is just adorable and I love how you decorated it! take care, Maryann
Oh my. It is just perfect! And it is much larger than it looks from the outside too. I love the decor and think it would be a wonderful spot to sleepover and listen to the pond peepers in the spring, wake up to the sun rising across the pond in the summer or reading a good book and curling up for an afternoon nap. What a beautiful relaxing spot!
Carolyn, This has to be the cutest boat house EVER! I am in love.

What a beautiful boathouse, so lovely and romantic and it really has everything, a nook, a porch, a conservatory, a loft even. I can imagine the grandchildren love it. It really is a dreamhouse. Congrats to you for the decorating and to Andrew and your son for the building. The result is absolutely wonderful! And the surroundings couldn't be better of course, an amazing garden and the pond. The photo of the boathouse and its reflection in the pond is so pretty.

So romantic, like in a dream ♥♥♥
I second everyones comments, but Carolyn, what is that color of paint on the outside of the doors seen in the next to last pics? I adore it~!
You are an extremely talented woman. I love all your little accessories. I see that you use them and then it looks like you tuck them away for a while and then get them back out and use them once again in a very special place. What do you do with your treasures when they are not in use?
It whispers 'hideaway,,maybe sanctuary' for ONE..purrrrrrrrfect!
This is my idea of a perfect cottage! Oh my! Can I come vacation there?
I think I pinned every photo of this GORGEOUS boat house! I could move right in! It is perfection. Thank you for sharing these wonderful photos! They made my Sunday morning very enjoyable.
Cheers,
Micki

Out of curiosity have you ever read the Blue Castle? There are a couple of aspects of your home that remind me of Barney Snaith's cabin. Your taste is amazing!
