Hello everyone,
Earlier this week we spent a day in Halifax so the first thing we did was to go for a walk in the park- the Halifax Public Gardens. It is a beautiful park in the centre of downtown Halifax. It was a beautiful evening and lots of people were enjoying the
park.
There was beautiful fall colors but also lots of tender annuals still doing well.
We already lost our annuals here in our garden but we are in a bit of a frost pocket
and Halifax is a little further south then us.
It is a peaceful place and there are lots of ducks enjoying it too.
There is often musical entertainment here as well.
There are several beautiful statues in the garden.
The dahlias were still doing well- I think I should add a few more to our garden.
Thank you for coming along for a walk in the park. After we left Halifax
we went to Chester for a lunch and a walk around this beautiful seaside
town before heading on to the beautiful Mahone Bay- more on that later.
It is a warm day here and after a good rain the sun is starting to peek out.
We have been blessed with great weather this fall.
Take care,
Carolyn

The Public Gardens are really beautiful. I haven't been there for 12 years. We went to Halifax along with our friends to celebrate both our 25th wedding anniversaries that year. Your photos really show off this gorgeous place. Can't wait to see your next pictures. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are absolutely perfect and also the post below - fabulous!

Hi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteWe have always LOVED Halifax public gardens and have stayed across the street at the Lord Nelson just so we could enjoy walking there. And, we have stayed in Chester several times and Mahone Bay! I remember we were there once when the movie "The Scarlet Letter" was being filed and Demi Moore was in town - the place was all abuzz! And, there was a lovely tea house in Mahone Bay many moons ago (I don't think it's there anymore, we couldn't find it last time we were there) called Tingle Bridge Tea Room - friends of ours had been there some 20+ years earlier and we visited all those years later, we signed the guest book next to their names!
I remember the Inn where we stayed at Chester was near the tragic site of "The Butter Box Babies"! We did not know that until we had breakfast there the next morning and the innkeeper told us. Did you happen to visit Ocean View Garden Centre in Chester? They held a Pink Days In Bloom this past summer and raised lots of funds for breast cancer research through the FUNdRaiser, even hanging 1,000 bras on a line across their parking lot!
So many lovely places along the leaf watch! Wish we were there! We are enjoying your photos. The bring back wonderful memories! Keep them coming...

Nice photography but not Carolyn's beautiful garden. Nothing is as beautiful as your garden because you loved every minute planting and tending it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful walk you have taken us on Carolyn! Your photos are always so lovely. I also LOVED seeing your last post and the gorgeous colors going on in your garden. Doesn't it change so fast these days? After the last few nights everything is just brown and ugly here so it's time to cut back.
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful weekend Carolyn!
hugs...
Pretty park, Carolyn. Loved the photos. I'd like one of those statues in our back yard! ha! Susan

That park is what I imagine heaven will look like, Carolyn. :) It's so beautiful! It was so nice to see pics of the sun shining, too. We've had a week of just horrible cold wet weather down here, and another week of it to look forward to. The first 2 weeks of October were so picture perfect, too! lol Thank you for sharing more of your beautiful island with us. I always love it!!!

Your pictures of the park are beautiful, Carolyn. We haven't been to Halifax in years. We have been having a lovely October so far although as you said, our flowers are pretty much gone now. Time to start thinking about Christmas!

Sandi
It's been a while since we visited the Halifax public gardens. Your pictures made me realize I need to go again. Beautiful shots!
