Hello everyone,
It is a beautiful sunny day here and I am planning on getting back out to the garden shortly but first I thought I would share a little 'Vintage Love' with you.I have been having fun decorating our little 'boathouse' lately and have enjoyed sleeping out in it now that it is nearly finished.
I have a few pretty vintage aprons and some vintage style china so I used them to decorate one wall in the 'boathouse'. Someone asked me why it is called the boathouse and it just a name we picked for it as it is by our pond and has an old wooden boat in front of it. It is a real hit with our visitors and I have had several people ask if we rent it out but alas we are selfish! Also,it has no bath or kitchen-just a fun place to sleep and wake up to the beauty of the pond and the birds etc. Also, planning sleepovers with our family soon.
I like how the aprons look reflected in the old mirror.
The old chair I 'slipcovered' in a simple cottagey way with an old chennile bedspread.
We have been busy with tours from Japan lately and we really enjoy sharing the garden with them. June and October seem to be their favorite times to come here so it is slower next month.
The lupins are blooming all up and down our country road here now. They are so pretty in all the different colors and bi colors.
The irises are also in bloom now but I am loving the Canadian and Korean lilacs that are just coming into full bloom and spreading an amazing fragrance around the garden making for a very pleasant workplace!
Enjoy your day!
Carolyn

It is a wonderful treat to visit your beautiful home. Thank you for the lovely pictures. I find great inspiration here.
What a lovely group of folks enjoying the Aiken House and Gardens. Darling photos with the aprons!
Are tours to Aiken House and Gardens open only in the Spring and Summer? Do you have more information about it? Lovely post.
Breath taking photos as always you are one of my very fav on Like Gramma's House "Blog Honor Roll"

Hi Carolyn,
You decorated your house beautifully! Love the vintage aprons. Especially the pink one is pretty. Wish we had aprons like that over here.
The ladies from Japan look very stylish and cheerful. It must be fun showing them around!
Happy day,
Madelief x
With the aprons, your boathouse looks like a real country home. Love the vintage touch and the lupins are gorgeous.
Can't get enough of your sweet little spaces like your boat house and your gardener's cottage - you could make a mint renting them out, but then it'd be kinda icky having peeps in the main house using the water closet - so can't blame you.
I must say I laughed out loud - love that pic of the visitors - but nothing says as much as that lone gentleman off to the right looking away. It's classic. I think he had had enough of women and flowers, yes? So funny.
The vintage aprons look great in the cottage Carolyn. You & your Sweetie must be so very proud showing off your Home & Gardens very year. I am sure the tour is a highlight of their visit to Canada. Take care.

I was just flipping through me new Romantic Homes - congrats on this wonderful opportunity to be featured!!!!
You create corners of serenity, darling Carolyn. You know how I love your garden, and now it's really stunning, with all these blues =)

Love everything, Carolyn. Just darling. Susan
Looks like a group of happy people touring your gardens Carolyn. A couple of bloggers from Ontario are wondering if the lupines from the Maritimes would grow here. We have trouble keeping them going, and yet look at how yours prosper. I have suggested it could be the soil. Any ideas?

I just love your boathouse and the vintage pieces make it look so sweet and inviting. We have a little place like this at the lake that we call The Summerhouse, for lack of a better name. It's separate from the house, has 7 windows and a little front porch. It's almost like sitting in a screened in porch. We have pull out beds behind slatted doors, wicker furniture and sweet little table and chairs for having a semi al fresco meal. The ceiling fan can be set for heat so we can enjoy our little retreat right through fall.
I'm sorry I've rambled on so long!! I admire your lupines in each post...I have to see if I have a place for them in my garden. So sweet!
XO,
Jane

Hi Carolyn,
I haven´t been so active on the blogreading front lately. I see I have missed out on all the lovely spring blossoms and the most charming boathouse. So nicely decorated. The aprons are so very pretty. Visiting your blog and looking at the amazing photos, always make me smile and dream a bit. Happy summer to you and have a lovely weekend.
