The Road to Avonlea



                                                               Hello everyone,
       On this beautiful winter day we decided to take a drive to Cavendish  to enjoy the sights along the way, and check out the beauty of the little village of Avonlea. If any of you are fans of Anne,  the imaginative little red haired orphan from Lucy Maud Montgromery's book , 'Anne of Green Gables' you have heard of Avonlea village. Several years ago,Avonlea village was created in Cavendish as a tourist attraction and is a busy spot most summer days. In winter,however it is deserted no sign of Anne or even a tourist! It is so pretty to see though with a coat of white sparkly snow. Although it was sunny at home, at the time I was walking the streets of Avonlea it was a mix of sun and cloud.
        Oh! so pretty.






      Are you still with me?
            Some of the buildings are old ones moved in,while others are new. In the summer there are shops  open, and places to buy food or drinks such as Raspberry Cordial.




         
  While we are in Anne's Land we might as well stop by Green Gables and see if Marilla has the teapot on!
           or see if Matthew is in the barn milking the cows.

     Well, it is time for me to curl up by the fire with a good book- hmm...maybe The Road to Avonlea (also by L.M. Montgromery)!

    Such pretty houses I have a thing about houses people I know bring me (house for sale books) from all over the world when they travel.
    Ann of green gables was such a great story you could just imagine all the people from the books living in that village.

    Gorgeous photos! I guess this village has been built since we vacationed there, gosh, 20 years ago now! We did get to see Anne's house before it burned, but now we need to plan another trip. So beautiful in the snow!

    Some of the houses look like the ones in my little village, Providence Village. We're not on the east coast, however. We're just north of Fort Worth-Dallas, Texas!!!! It snowed in early January so we felt that we were on the east coast. What a day that was.

    I just love winter pictures. I brought home 6 bottles of Raspberry Cordial in my suitcase when I visited! And, each bottle arrived safely. Imagine that! LOVE the stuff. LOVE Anne even more. And, LOVE your tour!!!

    I've been to visit Avonlea and Prince Edward Island a few times and always leave enchanted. I loved the Anne of Green Gables books and movies. Thanks for posting this.

    So lovely!!!! I always loved 'Road to Avonlea' when it was on TV and had some episodes on tape to play on the video whenever I wanted. But tapes and video have long gone now. So unreal and a dream to be living in a beautiful area like this. Those colourful houses, the surroundigns, can't get enough of it, please take many more journeys around your beautiful island to share here with us Carolyn. Thanks!
