Hello everyone,
I am sure you have heard the Chinese saying, when you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily(flowers) with the other. So when I go to the grocery store I seem to spend more time picking out a few flowers then I do groceries. It seems so uplifting to see the spring bulbs etc. all out in bloom now.
I always love our locally grown tulips in the various colors.
This week they also had some cheerful little primulas that I couldn't resist, and they can be planted out in the garden when it warms up.
I bought these old milk bottles and the carrier a few years ago and they work nicely for various flowers but today it is pretty yellow tulips.
A little bit of spring cheer is good for the soul-don't you think? It has been so cold here lately, but tomorrow our temps will be more spring like, but of course, Spring is still several weeks away here, yet but a break from the cold will be nice.
I bought this amaryllis a couple of months ago and it was supposed to be appleblossem pink but for the second year in a row it surprised me by being a vibrant red/ orange.
No matter, I have enjoyed watching it grow and bloom.
That is my little indoor spring garden for now, but I have taken some of my geraniums up from the basement, and cut them back, so hopefully they will soon be putting out some blooms.
What about you , do you have some spring blooms in your house too ? or maybe you live 'down under' and have lots of outdoor blooms.
Well, I better go to the kitchen and get some of that' loaf of bread' now, that came home with the flowers!

You have created such an incredible haven of beauty around you. And your photos display this beauty in a most brilliant way. You are such an inspiration to me, with respect to my very young blog Country Charme as well as for my home. I have already planned some changes to be done as soon as it gets warmer. And when I told a friend in our small German village about your blog, it turned out, that she had indeed been to Prince Edward´s Island,when she lived in Vermont.

Very pretty pictures of spring blooms. The different vignettes are sweet and I love primulas. I may get one when we return from out west and I'll definitely buy more PEI tulips! Enjoy the brief spring the next 2 days.
ReplyDeleteHello Carolyn, your indoor spring garden is so very cheerful. I am actually experiencing an early spring here - we've had temps in the 70's and expecting a severe thunderstorm tomorrow - I really wish we had a 'real' winter - it helps tulips - they're considered annuals here!

I have been looking each time I go for groceries as well, but still no tulips and very few flowers all together, not looking that fresh either, so I didn't buy any yet. The tulips are gorgeous. Wish you were here. It was 75 degrees here and I pruned shrubs today. My forsythia is blooming-no forcing needed.

ReplyDeleteAfter all the cold weather, your pretty flowers are a breath of spring Carolyn. The tulips are a lovely shade of yellow and the primulas are in nice spring colours too. Your milk carrier would be perfect for taking specimens to a flower show.

Here down under in N.Z. Sunflowers are currently in full display. They look so happy and you just can't help it but smile when you see them. Your spring arrangement is lovely and so fresh and colourful Carolyn.We are going through a drought period at the moment. The Wineries are loving it for the grapes, the Farmers are worrying.Poor Australia, such weird weather patterns, I really feel for the poor communities and there either "burning" conditions or the flooding.I do so love reading your blog. Your post today with the color just makes my heart happy. I just love when the primulas start showing up in the market. From past years we have a start to a primrose lane. Each year I buy them, enjoy them for awhile indoors, and then they go into the lane.

ReplyDeleteWhat a joy to find this post today - it's snowing here in southern Alberta and the wind chill has taken the temperatures down to the range of minus 22 C. If I think I can get them out to the car without freezing their wee blooms, I'll try to pick up some primulas at the store later today :)
