Hello everyone,
It is a sunny but cool November day here and after doing some outdoor Christmas decorating I enjoyed some baking time in a warm kitchen.I have been without an oven for the past few weeks so it is a treat to finally have it working again. My Mom had a stove that still worked like a charm when it was 30 years old and my was just over the year when the timer and all the wiring had to be replaced. They sure don't make things to last anymore!
Anyway,it is time for an afternoon tea break.
I love this black and cream transferware teacup.
I tried a new muffin recipe-pear and date muffins and we really enjoyed them so I can recommend them to you.
I packed a few up for my Mom to enjoy.
And I have included the recipe in case you would like to try them too. The only change I made was I used honey instead of sugar and I added a teaspoon of cinnamon to them.
There is a pot roast cooking in the oven now so I am enjoying the sunshine streaming in the kitchen and the wonderful aroma of supper cooking as I savour a cup of afternoon tea.
I am joining Rose Chintz Cottage for Tea Time Tuesday and A Delightsome Life for A Return to Loveliness. today.
Thank you for visiting,
Carolyn

ReplyDeleteCarolyn,I can relate to problem ovens. Mine was bought in August 2011 and I have had the repair man out 5 times Ugggh. You're right, sure don't make them like they used to.
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty cup. I have taken down the recipe for the muffins. It's a must try. I've never used pears and dates together before, sounds nice.

Hi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteMidge just booked a flight to your kitchen! lol We can smell the pot roast cooking in the oven. And, WoW! Those muffins really do look pretty good, too. :-) I am going to include these in my Christmas brunch file. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Is this the same oven that was acting up last year? I cannot imagine you being without your oven for weeks. :-)
I have been enjoying Franciska's book and will be doing a post soon...I'm thrilled. XO
Hugs,
Linda
Ha!Ha! I had pot roast today too. Just the thing for a cool day on the Island! I'm glad you got your stove working again. My last stove was 26 years old when I replaced it. I had gotten a new fridge because it finally quit and the gold stove was getting old too so I decided to treat myself to a new one. Your muffins sound wonderful and they look lovely packaged up in the pretty box for your mother! I do love your teacup. Thanks for stopping by for tea and have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
