Welcome to our romantic style garden as today I would like to share a few of my favorite highlights in the garden now.
The Prairie Princess rose is blooming around our garden terrace as well as a Japanese Ivory Silk lilac adding a wonderful fragrance as well as beauty.
It is still peony season here so I have picked some for bouquets.
The hydgrangea with the lacy iron chairs in the background.
This is the other side of the terrace.
I love the combination of peonies and roses. The peony is Festiva Maxima one of my favorites as it originally came from my Dad's garden.
This romantic rose is Lambert Close.
Bowl of Beauty peony
I love this Constance Spry rose with the white and blue clematis around it.
Love the delicate beauty of my new Petticoat Fairy Tale rose. I love the blush of apricot in the centre.
The Mary Rose with beautiful peonies.
The Queen of Denmark is loaded with blooms this year.
Krinkled White peony was loaded with it's delicate single blooms
The arbor with Constance Spry and William Baffin in the background.
This is one of my favorite lilac for scent as it is a delicate sweet scent that wafts around the garden.
Constance Spry again.
Sarah Bernhardt -a late Lactiflora, double, soft seashell pink, has a slight red edging in the middle of the flower, fragrant, slow grower, many stems, it belongs on the “good” list of well paid cut flowers, (Lemoine 1906).
abundant peonies
Hope you are not sick of Constance Spry yet-notice the clematis in background,I love this combination.
Earlier this week we had a camera crew come in from Japan to film our garden for a September viewing of our garden and other spots around the Island and Nova Scotia.Wo hoo!
A romantic place for a cup of tea in the garden. The beautiful hardy rose behind the bench is a soft mauve pink with a wonderful old fashion rose scent-it is Snow Pavement.
Or maybe you would rather sit here for a spell and admire the peonies and roses behind you.
I hope you enjoyed a peek at some of my favorite garden shots. I love having some of my favorite romantic blossoms all in bloom at the same time.
I didn't forget my garden post where I will answer your garden questions -it is coming soon! I confess I have been enjoying some down time with family and friends the past few days.
I am joining My Romantic Home for Show & Tell Friday.
Enjoy your weekend.
Carolyn
Your garden is heavenly! I could almost smell the lovely fragrance of roses and peonies! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'm always excited when I get to see into your garden! Your roses and Peonies are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness your garden is gorgeous! I would be in heaven being able to grow such beautiful flowers ~ In Texas our hydrangeas are almost done ~ I can't believe you just now have peonies ~
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing them with us!

Dear Carol
ReplyDeleteHow lovely must it be to have the flowers of peonias, roses and hyrangeas at the same time.
Here in Switzerland you never have, as the peonias quit mostly when the roses start to flower and it ist just now that the first hydrangeas start to take color.
Thanks again for these pictures.
Yours Pascale
Just stunning, Carolyn! I wish I could take in the sights and smells, but the pictures almost make me feel like I'm there. Your roses and peonies are gorgeous. Things are moving to fast here what with the early arrival of warm weather. I've seen sedums already getting their rosiness.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is perfect. I discovered this blog two years ago and I wait for your new post ewery day. I like looking at your photos when I want to relax or when I'm glad. I'm looking for the inspiration for my garden. And I finally know how the Prince Edward Island looks! When I read "Ann of Green Gables", I was dreaming to see the island. Now I know :)
ReplyDeleteThe plants in your garden are very good-looking. I'm interested in you are using any special method of cultivation or a soil on Your Island is fertile? And how to design a beautiful garden like Yours? Greetings from Poland - Dorota
What a beautifull garden do you have. I wish I manage to make such a beautifull and romantic place in my garden.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day
Jana
Hi Doranma,
ReplyDeleteI am happy you have been enjoying it. The soil on Prince Edward Island is a good clay soil but I do add mushroom compost to it to give it a boost. However,I do have gardening friends that do not add anything to their soil and still have beautiful gardens.
Parts of our garden are 20 years old so they have had time to develope. The design developed over time as well and I read many garden books and magazines always looking for ideas that would work for us.
Thank you for visiting!
Carolyn
YouR garden is LOVELY BEAUTIFUL...♥♥!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHUGS GABY..♥
I have peony 'Festiva Maxima' too. It had 88 flowers last year, can you imagine it? It is beautiful this garden of yours.
ReplyDeleteEverthing is so lovely and peaceful looking! Hope your weekend is great! Carol
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness your peonies are beautiful and hydrangeas......what a lovely garden you have!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn, Carolyn, Carolyn. What a delightful way for me to start my Friday. Thank you so much for sharing your startlingly lovely garden. Ohhhhhh, the Lambert Close! Breathtaking. Beauteous, one and all. Susan
ReplyDeleteExquisite!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou have so many wonderful spaces to sit and enjoy the colours, fragrance and garden beauty, wow!
I was wondering what kind of bug is on your white lilac? I have never seen one like that.
Sorry, you show us so much loveliness and I asked about an insect, I know, rude, right? But honestly it is a neat shot - and you are so good about telling us what flowers we're seeing, but that one is worth the asking I guess, haha.
Have a blessed weekend, Carolyn. Thanks for such a lovely post!
Congrats on the photo crew, that' so exciting.
I'm enjoying your roses more than usual this morning. Yesterday I had to remove mine - black spot. I'm going to have to start over next year with a new variety more suitable to the cold rainy Northwest. I'm going to try a David Austen "Ambridge" rose.
ReplyDeleteBut for the time being I'm just going to enjoy yours.
Parts of your garden are 20 years old you said above - oh my! Woo hoo is right! Breathtaking photos!
ReplyDeleteHello Carolyn
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the photo shoot of your gardens. They seem to be at their best right now and you've arranged so many pretty spots to sit and rest or have tea.
Very nice to see your roses and peonies blooming together.
Judith
Dear Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteSo exciting to get a film crew from Japan! I hope they will send the film to you too, so that you can show it on your blog.
Your garden looks so very beautiful at the moment Carolyn. A bit like a dream. I wrote several names of the roses/peonies down, in the hope I can find them in Holland or England too.
Have a lovely weekend!

Congratulations on the upcoming film tribute to your garden, Carolyn. Much deserved! I hope I have an opportunity to see it. Do let us know when it is scheduled to be televised or if we can find it online.
ReplyDeleteIt's been record-breaking hot here in TN, and we're all fighting to keep our favorite plants alive. Send us some rain, please.
Blessings!

Carolyn, congratulations your garden is such a triumph. Its so wonderful to get recognition after all the hard work you put in. I am following along and love popping in for inspiration. We planted about quite a lots of roses 2 years ago, I'm hoping that eventually we can have a display like you have all around the garden. Rosa Lambert Close is gorgeous and I haven't heard of it before. I will see if I can hunt out a supplier over here in the UK.
ReplyDeletePaul
I love your roses! And, the photos of them are fantastic!! Looks like such a pretty, romantic place!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. A little slice of heaven. Roses and peonies are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLove your peonies I never see them round here maybe too humid.
ReplyDeleteMerle...
Heya Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteLucky flowers to call your garden home! Congrats on the filming, so exciting (we filmed a segment here yesterday for Pink Days In Bloom on NTV's Places to Go so that was fun).
I spied that sweet Apple Bloom teacup - love the one you sent Christmastime. When in Victoria last month, I found some various size plates to match up with the settings I have already - all I need now is a teapot (to go with that creamer and sugar bowl) and the dream set will be complete! LOL If your sister ever decides to let hers go, please mention me to her. :-)
I cannot get over how in bloom your garden is. My peonies are just starting but we had downpours of rain today and tomorrow I will have to re-stake them all.
It sounds as though you are really having a lovely summer. Hope it keeps up and you enjoy each day. I saw Heather in a recent post - please tell her I love the print. :-) Talk soon.
Hugs,
Linda
Absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! I can never get enough of it Carolyn. And how exciting to be in film. So happy for you! What a beautiful setting in the garden terrace too.
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how many Constance Spry I have winter killed here in my garden. It's just too cold for them and a couple of the others you shared here.
sending hugs...
Your garden is elegant and beyond beautiful. Thank you are sharing it with others and for inspiring me.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful garden, beautiful peonies, beautiful photos!!!!
ReplyDeleteKiss from Italy!
Livia.
Ah, splendor in the garden! Just lovely, Carolyn. My hubby and I have been sick all week with the flu so I haven't been making my rounds as much this week. Glad I could stop by and take in this bit of paradise on our Island. Have a beautiful weekend.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
A complete joy and delight, Carolyn! Yours is the epitome of a romantic garden. And how exciting to have the garden filmed! I hope you DO enjoy a lot of down time with family. Have a lovely weekend.
