Hello everyone,
Well, today is the first day of summer and the longest day of the year. I love all the seasons but there is definitely something special about summertime here on the Island.
Do you remember the new vintage shop Time worn Treasures & Antiques that I shared with you last week? The coal scuttle above was one of the treasures that I found there. It is perfect with a big bouquet but it will also be lovely planted with annuals. The lupins grow wild here in ditches and we live on a country road that is lined with them. My husband and I threw seeds of them along the ditch a few years ago and they are spreading nicely so I picked a few for a bouquet. The old chair that I love came from Coulson's a few years ago. Together they make a pretty picture don't you think?
I also bought this lovely urn from Lori at Timeworn Treasures & Antiques.
and the little angel.

So today it is goodbye spring (I did enjoy you)and welcome summer! We have several tours coming up so today I am busy getting ready for them but the peonies are popping daily and the roses too so I hope to have some time with my camera so I can give you a garden tour also.
Hope you have the best summer ever!!!
Thank you for visiting and welcome once again to new and old followers.

Oh, I just love your scuttle, urn and those gorgeous flowers!
Jan :)
Those lupins are gorgeous, Carolyn! I love all the colors and how they look in your coal scuttle and the urn. You found some lovely pieces at Time Worn Interiors. Love the angel, too!
I love the summer.
But now in Italy, temperatures reach 40 degrees. Too hot.
The garden withers and needs too much water.
I envy your wonderful composition of lupins.
Ciao

Love the look of the flowers in the coal container. Fabulous! And Carolyn, I hope YOU have a terrific summer, too. Susan
Hi Carolyn,
OH! The beauty of Lupins.... Just love them and your photos are also beautiful!
On the weekend hubby and I took a little walk along our River and I also took some photos of them.
O.K. Now your coal scuttle is to die for, really love it! You are so lucky to be close to shops like these, I am way too far North to enjoy such outings.
Have a wonderful summer and enjoy all of your garden tours.
Blessings,
Koren
Love that these beautiful flowers grow in the wild there. Summer means 5 months of 90 degrees or higher here in central Texas so Im not as excited, but I love coming to your blog to enjoy the seasons of your wonderful island.
Beautiful photos of the lupins! I love your new scuttle and urn. They are perfect for large bouquets. Enjoy this beautiful sunny summer day! Pamela
Beautiful , beautiful flowers, great arrangements of still life in a perfect - very beautiful!Michaela
Oh! I adore "fairy kisses" ... *BIG smile* and love the new pieces you got for your garden to decorate it even more. If I would visit I might grab the turquoise window shutter and sprint like a crazy woman ... *lol* IT'S GORGEOUS!!! ♥
Have a splendid summer time,

All in a hurry I forgot to mention: Your lupines are b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l!
Carolyn I love all of your photos but I really like the one with the flowers in the pail setting on the chair. Looks nice.
Caroly - your photos are gorgeous. LOVE the coal scuttle and the lupins are beautiful - I have some purple ones but I want a bunch more. I need to make room in the garden. J
Lucky you to have armloads of lupins Carolyn. I wonder if we could do the same in Ontario? We're both zone 5 and I'd love to add some to our roadsides.

Perfect flowers on the 1st day of summer!
Our ditches get mowed around here, but the thought of lupins in them sounds wonderful. We enjoy the spring and summer wildflowers in our fields.
Simply beautiful Carolyn!
I forgot that it´s the longest day today. Good of you to remind me. This weekend we are celebrating Midsummer.
Enjoy your day!

Happy Summer to you, as well. Your lupins are gorgeous! I adore your coal scuttle and urn and they are perfect for your beautiful bouquets. Beautiful summer post!
What do Lupins smell like? I love their pretty look! I wouldn't mind sowing some seeds around where our bonfire spot will be at our new house!
But I am quite sensitive to certain smells and can't handle real sweet flowery scents.
By the way I love your blog and enjoy looking at all you're beautiful pictures!
What an incredible bouquet of lupins you have. The colors are gorgeous. I could look at these pictures all day.
Hi Carolyn,
Such a pretty post! I really enjoyed seeing your blooms.
Have a sweet day, Elizabeth
Perfectly wicked, my friend! Hehe Looove that photo of your Coulson's chair and Time Worn scuttle! And that urn...Sigh. A favourite!!! What gorgeous weather and growing conditions you've been having.

Amazing, this is one of my favourite post in awhile...
The chair with the coal bucket is "STUNNING"...
Blessings Lori ~
I've never actually heard of lupines growing wild in ditches, Carolyn. It must be an absolutely beautiful site! I know that they struggle to grow here in MI. Tend to be a little finicky. Your photos of them in the bucket are just breathtaking! Some day, I'm going to show up at one of your garden tours. lol!
xoxo laurie
Carolyn, they all make an absolutely beautiful picture! How clever of you to spread the lupine seeds. And they are perfect in the coal bin. Love this post! Happy Summer! – g
Carolyn your Lupins are so very beautiful. After a very busy day they made me smile. I grew Lupins many years ago and I just adored picking a great big bunch just like yours. They are such happy flowers aren't they. Thankyou for sharing x
