Hello everyone,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. We enjoyed a sunny warm Mother's Day here with lots of food and all of our family. It was warm enough to eat out on veranda-I love to eat outdoors whenever possible.
The garden is starting to fill in and the leaves are coming out on the trees and shrubs.
Hyacinths are scenting the air.
The bleeding hearts are blooming.
The snakehead- fritillaria meleagris are blooming and slowly spreading in the garden.
The hostas are putting up their fresh green and cream leaves.
Ice follies daffodils blooming around the old wheelbarrow.
Dainty little narcissus-not sure of their name.
Our tulips are starting to bloom-now I am wishing I had planted a lot more as not all the old ones returned.
These Red Riding Hood tulips have returned faithfully year after year. I hope I can get more of these for the fall planting.
The hillside garden is awash with the beauty of many different varieties of daffodils.
Well, that is what is happening in our garden so far. Tomorrow is going to be a hotter day so things can change pretty quickly in the garden. However, the benefit of a long cool spring is the flowers stay in bloom longer and have a more intense color.
How is your garden doing? I know many of you are way ahead of us here as we are just getting started in our garden season.
Today,I am joining the house in the roses for Show off your Cottage Monday.
I hope you enjoy your day!
Carolyn
It is so pretty as usual.I seeing how you garden is coming.Ours is a little ahead here in Alabama.
ReplyDeleteIt is all so wonderful! Do you know what a treasure you have? (I think so!)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYes you are about a month behind us - we had such a WARM and EARLY spring.
I have 7 lilac bushes but only one really gave many blooms due to a weird frost in the middle of that heat. The one that bloomed is tucked away in the back of our property amongs trees, which saved it I think. Plus it is a slightly different variety so could be that, too.
Your blooms are fantastic, enjoy your weather and your pretty garden!
We are all on different clocks for our gardens. Daffodils are gone in most places. As always your garden is #1 exceptional.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is beautiful! I live in South Carolina and azaleas have bloomed already. I am actually starting to plant more flowers especially confederate jasmine.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful time with family.
So beautiful, Carolyn. Here in my garden, nothing is blooming yet. We have a very cold spring, but hope it soon will be warmer soon.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week
Beautiful spring flowers. It's interesting to notice that you have the same flowers over there as we have here, lol.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day.
Love Elzie

ReplyDeleteWe had a rainy and cool weekend here even though it was quite sunny and warm elsewhere in the Maritimes. The garden is so wet! But it makes it easier to pull out weeds. Things are popping up here too. I love your hill of daffodils! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Carolyn your garden is breathtaking!! I so wish I could get into gardening...it must be so rewarding...maybe one day!?! Hope you are well..xo Chrissy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures Carolyn. I am particularly fond of snakeshead fritillaries.
ReplyDeletePaul
We're at the same spot flower and foliage wise..But your daffs so outdid mine!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love those first warm days of spring?
ReplyDeleteYour garden is looking beautiful. I've tried fritillaries but seem to disappear for me. I'm jealous to read that yours are slowly spreading. I may have to try again. Our roses are just starting to bloom here in Pennsylvania.
Have a happy week ahead!!
All my best ~ Jenn
So beautiful Carolyn. I love this time of year. Everything is so fresh and pretty!
ReplyDeletePS - I'm taking the plunge and trying roses again! I gave up on them a number of years ago as they always died every winter - but you've inspired me with yours - and proved that they can grow here. I'm pulling out a juniper bush to give them a sunny spot next to the house. Hopefully I'll have some rose pictures to show in the not too distant future!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures, Carolyn! Your red tulips are so bright and pretty. Love this time of year!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
GORGEOUS!!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful sring garden you have. Here by Lake Superior we are at least a couple of weeks behind you! My hostas are only now peeking through the ground, and my bleeding hearts are about eight inches high with no buds yet! The lily of the valleys are just now starting to bloom and my daffodils are still blooming because of the cool weather we had.
ReplyDeleteI must have the latest garden to bloom!
Wishing you a wonderful week.
Nancy
