Now & Then

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. We woke up to a winter wonderland this morning as we had a heavy snowfall overnight and no wind, leaving the branches of the trees laden with snow.

This is the same part of our garden in June. These are Miss Kim lilac standards.

Our little garden cottage this morning.

Then again in June.

The arbor(built by my husband) going into Martha's Garden this morning.

Then again in June.

Now

And then. ( June)

Fence also built by hubby.

June

Old iron table and chair set on our balcony this morning.

And then it's summer!

South of house now.

And again in summer.

Now
And then. It is early summer here.

There is beauty in all the seasons but as a gardener I will soon be longing to be out there again.

I thought you might enjoy seeing a little bit of now and then.

I am joining The Rose Garden in Malevik for Show Off Saturday and the house in the roses for Show off your Cottage Monday. Also joining Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Monday.

Thank you for visiting,

Carolyn

  14. sigh.....

but it's all so beautiful - both of them.

Looking at your lush gardens....so much garden.... Carolyn, the ground has started to thaw and we have red wing blackbirds back!!! Spring is, apparently, six weeks ahead of itself which is good because I have so much ground that I want to break....and I have to catch up to you. ;) =D

(The truth is, I will NEVER catch up to this glory! =])

  16. Hallo,
I wanted to tell you that I love your pictures and the summer and winter part. What a lot of snow there has been fallen. Here in Holland where I live we have had a little bit of snow (thank god... I don't like winter so much) and we also had some beautiful pictures made. But I am pleased the snow has disappeared already.
You've got a wonderful house and beautiful garden and such a sweet little garden cottage, I really adore him!! But I hope you have a nice weekend and I apologize for my bad English... Greetings from Holland, Joyce.

  41. Darling Carolyn, it seems quite impossible to have all this beauty hidden below all this snow!! But we know it's true!! We all have so many things to learn about gardening in such a extreme climate looking at your marvelous garden. Here where I live we have snow, but also so hot temperature in summer, and it's really quite difficult to find plants able to stay in -15/+40°...
    Have a nice sunday

Your world is dripping in romance even on a snowy day. Lovely to see the winter wonderland . . . we had but a dusting.

  48. Carolyn,

I have to agree with The Roseman! You ARE the best, my friend! Hehe I think the photo of you seated and looking toward the house with the lilacs in the foreground is one of my favourites! It is important to show the contrasts so we can appreciate the beauty each season holds. And, we, too, can perhaps appreciate the beauty of summer all the more.

Andrew's talents at building all the garden structures never ceases to amaze me. Such dedicated souls you both are to creating a paradise on earth so that we all may enjoy your talents and labours. I am so grateful that you chose to do a blog to share with the world! I know that it takes a lot of time and commitment, and I am sure I speak for all your followers in saying, "Thank You".

    Hugs,
    Linda

  51. So gorgeous. I just got to experience snowfall last winter in southern australia. Im from the top part of New South Wales Australia were we dont get snow. What amazed me the most in your photos is how green everything is in summer and that the plants survive under all that snow and come out amazing treasures in summer. I went to tasmania last september were it snows and thought to myself how dry everything looked and barren. Your garden is just gorgeous, thanks for sharing.
