It's Lilac Time!

Hello everyone,
We have had a couple of nice sunny days and it is amazing how quickly the garden changes with a little heat and sunshine. So....now our lilacs are blooming!!!

We have many different varieties of lilacs in our garden so I picked a few  from the different shrubs to make some bouquets.

Liger a few minutes with a cup of tea and Jennifer Bennett's book Lilacs in the Garden.

I love the fragrance of these beauties and love working in the garden near them so I can enjoy it as I work.

We have a couple of tours from Japan in the next few days so I am busy tidying the house and garden but I will be back soon.
Thank you for all the lovely comments and I will share the biscuit recipe with you next time for those who asked.
Today,I am joining My Romantic Home for Show and Tell again and also Courtney at French Country Cottage  for Feathered Nest Friday.

I hope you took some time to smell the lilacs(or roses) today!

Thank you for visiting,

Carolyn

  1. Beautiful lilacs! Mine did so poorly this year with all the up and down weather we've had. Hope next year they do better...I just love the smell of them.

  4. Oh Carolyn you always transport us to such a Magical place with your Home, Garden and magnificent photography of it all! I love Lilacs and it's been so long since I've enjoyed them... they apparently don't grow in the Desert and the Flower Shops never seem to offer them, so I can only capture the fragrance via essential oils and the beauty via the Land Of Blog!

  14. Hello Carolyn

Your pictures are so beautiful - I can almost smell the lilac. It's sad that they last such a short time but that also makes them even more special.

  16. Oh thank you for these delicious bouquets of lilacs! They are so beautiful! I also like their fragrance and all the delicate nuances of their tiny flowers in clusters! Whoever is delicately edged in white is a marvel! It's been a long time that our lilacs faded here and it was really good to find your house, so beautiful in your home today! Thank you and good weekend to you!

  18. Dear Carolyn,

How pretty your lilacs looks. They look stunning in the vase with the Toile de Jouy and your blue teacup. I wish you and Andrew a Happy Pentecost weekend with your family!

  19. Carolyn, your lilacs are gorgeous! I was playing with mine yesterday too. Love that little tea cup! I would love to get my hands on some white lilacs too. My neighbor across the street had both a white and a purple bush but cut them both down last Fall. Such a disappointment because I could always look out my window and enjoy them.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  27. Hi Carolyn
I can't imagine life without lilacs somewhere in the garden. Although mine are conveniently below the kitchen window, they are beginning to hide the air conditioner and I have to whack them back each year.
Please show 'Beauty of Moscow' so I can see again what to look forward to. It's a robust little shrub and has put on some good growth already.

  28. Your lilacs are phenominal. I live in North Carolina, and we don't have many here. My neighbor has one though, and it bloomed this summer, and one bush made the whole block i live on smell heavenly. I wish i knew the variety, and could find one just like hers. Your photos are beautiful too... they inspire me to want to paint lilacs...

  30. All lilacs are beautiful, I love the scent of them and though I have none in my garden I do enjoy the ones that various neighbours have.
