Tea Time

Hello everyone,

I am so happy you stopped in for tea today as I have made a treat for you.

We have been picking blackberries here for the past few weeks and there are still more to ripen. I love picking these berries as the weather is nice and the pickin is easy. they grow wild so they are totally organic and free for the picking.

Blackberries and cream

I made some biscuits and whipped the cream.

And then I made some blackberry shortcakes for us.

I poured a cup of tea for you..

So come on over and help me out with these!

My inspiration for these is the cover of the Victoria Magazine May-June 2009. I just picked up the new issue out and I am looking forward to my bedtime read!

Today is Tea time Tuesday at Rose Chintz Cottage and also at Lady Katherines Tea Parlor and there is also a Victoria blog party at A Delightsome Life so I am going to join in with these lovely ladies-hope you can too!

There are few hours in life more agreeable then the hours dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea. Henry James

Thank you for visiting.

Carolyn

  4. Your blackberry shortcakes look so delicious, Carolyn. Mr. AH&G must have to keep busy in the garden to work off all those goodies you are always baking! Love your pretty blue tea set too. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Hello Carolyn :) What a delightful tea for us! The blackberry shortcake looks just scrumptious....if only we lived closer I would be right over to have some :) There are a few wild blackberries that grow near our home, but I haven't been out yet to check how they are doing...perhaps I should :)

Wishing you a lovely Tea Tuesday!!

  10. Hi Carolyn,
Your black berries look so yummy...we also have wild blackberries but they are already finished for the year...actually we did not get any for us, between the birds and resident gopher turtles the vines got picked clean before I had a chance to grab any for us...Next year I will just have to be quicker.

Your tea set is so lovely also...the perfect complement to your lovely treats.

  21. Hi Carolyn...

OH, LOVED the tea set and the blackberries with the tasty biscuits and homemade whipped cream :) :) :) It's funny because I read Victoria magazine...and have been a fan since 1994...and I remember this very issue!!!

Your china is beautiful. Can you tell me some more about it? I LOVE that blue black color a lot. In fact, I purposefully will search out blue black ink for my Cross fountain pen...it's that precise color and I think it looks great!!! Beautiful!!!! Thanks for inviting me to tea :) :) :)

We had some wild blackberry bushes growing not to far from my apartment...but on the other side of the fence on another property..Then one day, someone had mowed them all down...probably as a fire prevention tactic...but I was still a little wistful. No matter...I had a joyous time here with you :) :) Thanks!!! I also just bought the newest copy of VICTORIA...so excited. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

  34. Hi Carolyn, I have been following your blog for quite some time now, I love it and the wonderfull pictures as well.
Last week I found the DVD called Anne of Avonlea, I believe the series is filmed on location on Prince Edward Island, love the story. Such a pity that I can not order the Victoria magazine here in Holland.
    Warm greetings, Carina

  36. OMG now you've got me salivating! *wink* Your photography and subject matter, as always, is amazing, I feel as though I'm THERE!!! I remember picking wild Blackberries when we lived in England, alas, here in the Arizona Desert the only berries that are drought tolerant are Raspberries... which I love too... so delicate that I was amazed they grow fairly well in a harsh climate!!! Now I'm contemplating making berry shortcakes too... thanks for the inspiration!!!

  37. Oh, well that's so funny! I was thinking, "OH! It's just like having the old Victoria back again!" A little off but kind of right on!

Carolyn, this is soooooooo beautiful! It lifts me up and reminds me...... it reminds me of what I love so much in life. I don't think that there are words to describe it, though. Thanks for putting all of this together and, then, sharing it with us!!!!

    Love, katy xxo

  40. Dearest Carolyn,

Looks inviting but in real life it is out of question for both of us... Since Pieter had his open heart surgery on Friday, September 3rd (4 bypasses and stent surgery done to his neck, I'm glad I got him home yesterday. BUT diet will restrict it and I myself can't have sugar either... But life goes on without it.
Thanks for sharing this virtual tea; great images so that was a joy!
