Hello everyone,
It is a beautiful sunny day here today but last night we had our first frost of the season and it was a heavy one! I will have to take in any annuals that I want to keep for next year and store in our basement. Someone asked me how I do that and I forgot to reply(I am sorry) so I just dig them out of the soil and cut of any blooms shake of most of the soil and throw them in a cardboard box and ignore them until about April and then I repot them, cut them back and water them and slowly get them used to the light in our little sunroom. They soon put out lots of new growth and then I add a little fertilizer to the water and they are good to grow! Some, plants in planters we just put in the basement under a window and water a few times over the winter and in spring take them up as well. Our basement is fairly dark and unheated but not really cold so this seems to work for us. Some people just take slips off their plants and restart them so whatever works for you.
Anyway, I wanted to show you the rest of my transferware teacup patterns today. I love the one above but I rarely see that color around here.
I also love this pattern and it too is harder to find.
I do have an assortment of brown and white dishes as well.
And of course,I would have to have blue and white too!
I love this teacup.
I hope you are not getting tired yet!
My sister in law gave me this beautiful one for Christmas a few years ago.
The brown and white ones are easier to find here.
Well, since I shared my more extensive collection of red and white a few days ago I thought you might enjoy seeing the rest of the story! today I am joining Show off your Cottage Monday at The House in the Roses. Thank you Cielo for hosting -you know I love to show off!Have a good day
They are all so lovely. When I get a chance I am going to having to start looking for some pieces to buy.

HI Carolyn, It was me that asked about overwintering geraniums. Thanks for your answer. I think our basement is too warm and bright now. I'm surprised you had a heavy frost already. We haven't had any here yet. I love your transferware dishes, especially the mauve and the teal green which are both so different. I want to let you know that I am a Grandma to a beautiful boy named Ewan Matthew. This is our first and we are so excited to meet him.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Pam
Hi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteYour collection of transferware is very pretty! I especially like the blue cups.
Can't believe that you already had frost. It so soon. I hope it will take a little while longer before we have frost in Holland. However, it was a very cold night yesterday. In the daytime temperatures have already dropped to 14 degrees celcius, so it won't be long.
I hope you will get some more sunny fall days!
Lieve groet, Madelief
Dearest Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I can't believe you had already a good frost! What a difference with us here in the south. Glad we finally got rain and a good cool off to only 25°C instead of the 30°C+ for the past 3 weeks.
You have quite a transferware collection! Did you ever check at Replacements Ltd? They do carry over 2,000.000 pieces of China so you might have good luck finding some missing pieces there! On my blog, to the left under labels you find them and I have hyperlinks to there site build in...
Rainy greetings from Georgia to you and stay cozy with you beautiful china!

I love your transferware! I recently started blogging and I am collecting the brown transferware because I was inspired by a blog I read at Cabin and Cottage. I only have 3 pieces so far, but that's not too bad for only 2 weeks of looking. Your blog is just beautiful!!!! Is it really as pretty on Prince Edward's Island as in the Anne of Green Gables movies? By the look of your blog, it must be.
ReplyDeleteCindy
My goodness, you do have the most amazing collection, Carolyn! They're all simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried that with annuals. But then we have pretty mild winters. Wow - the first frost already? I think it will be at least six weeks before we have one. Weatherman is predicting hotter than normal and dry the rest of this week, which my roses will appreciate!
Good luck getting all your garden treasures tucked in and have a lovely week. – g
Carolyn, Thank you for sharing the rest of your transferware teacup collection. It is quite lovely.
ReplyDeleteI have 2, they aren't antique, but maybe I should start collecting a few!
Very interesting how you save your annuals til next year. I'm going to ponder that. With our cats who like to get into everything, it might be difficult.
Hello Carolyn! I'm portuguese and I love your teacups, you know the green ones you show there, we have the same in Portugal from the begining of the last century. The name is "Beira" and we have it from "Fábrica de Sacavém" and from "Fabrica de Massarelos" (2 big factorys who have closed his doors already).
ReplyDeleteI realy love antique things and I live around this subject because I sell it, but I collect it as well because I can't resist to such beauty!!!! :-)
I'm always here watching your beautiful world, be happy and keep give us so many and good things to admire.
