Hello everyone!
Today I would like to share some blooms and blossoms from around our garden recently. the rose above is Purple Pavement -it is a hardy easy to grow rose.
The rose above and below is Heritage-a David Austen rose. I love the delicate shade of pink.
Snow Pavement is another hardy rose that blooms well in July but puts out some blooms all summer and into fall.
Heritage leaning over the picket fence.
Little Lamb hydrangea has turned a pretty pink.
I love the delicate fall blooming anemone.
I got some of these double poppy seeds and threw them around the hillside garden and they are just starting to bloom now. I love the plum color of them.
This is Prairie Princess rose-a lovely climber
This is Geertrude Jykell- a beautiful David Austen with a wonderful fragrance.
I love how abundantly this rose blooms-I planted it a few years ago and can't remember the name of it.
Some of the hardy geraniums are blooming again.
I have a few dalhia's that are new to our garden this year so they are blooming now. I will have to remember to dig them after the first frost and winter them over in our unheated basement so they can be replanted next year.
This time a pink anemone.
The beautiful Mary Rose another David Austen. I love David Austen English roses but in our climate zone 5b we do have to cover them for the winter. We bank them with soil sometime around Rememberance Day here usually.
And since I love making collages-I will end with this one today.
I am joining Cindy at My Romantic Home again for Show & Tell Friday ,where there is always lots to see.
Thank you for visiting me today and enjoy your weekend,
Carolyn

ReplyDeleteHi Carolyn :) You have such beautiful roses, I so wish that I could grow roses like that...I just don't seem to have that "magical" touch with roses :( So I will just have to look at yours :)

Your garden is a wonder Carolyn and someday I hope I can make a trip up your way and see it in person!
ReplyDeleteI too have a large number of Dahlia's that were given to me and what a job digging them all up each Autumn! Love the pale pink roses and that blue Geranium, the color combination just gave me goosebumps!

Carolyn, Your photography is beautifully romantic and holds all the charm of the old world... of a life filled with beauty and grace. Gorgeous roses! I can imagine the softness and fragrance. Utterly sensuous. ;>)
ReplyDeleteDearest Carolyn,

Hi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteI believe you are even a greater fan of David Austen's roses than I am :-)! They are all so beautiful! I enjoyed scrolling through your photo's very much. It won't be long now before all the flowers are gone.
I am glad your mother is feeling better, but from your comment I gather that you are still worried very much. I hope her appetite is a bit better now?!
Wish you a lovely weekend!
Lieve groet, Madelief
The roses are so beautiful....You did a great job capturing the close-up detail on the petals!!! My favorite was the "Snow Pavement"...Have a great weekend. love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)
ReplyDeleteHi dear Carolyn... it looks your roses are doing great.... there is a lot of mildew going on in my garden these days...it always happens at this time of year with weather changing... it almost seems only winter will cure it... Hope you have a great weekend...

Carolyn, can I just stay here all day??? Your roses are all so lovely. I saw some that I would love to try. I think I will most likely have to order them, because the nurseries here are rather set in their ways and always grow the same varieties from season to season.
ReplyDeleteMy garden is now starting to slow. All the hydrangeas are blooming finally and the echinacea still, but many other things are finished and I am now moving daylilies and a few other things. I just have another month of hard work before I can rest from my labors for another year. I don't think I have told you how wonderful it is to know you and to know that there is someone out there with the same passion for being a gardener as I. I know there are many, but I just haven't met them yet.
When I come here I seem to never want to leave.
hugs to you...
You are truly a gifted gardener!
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind. I linked your post to my PORCH AND GARDEN PARTY at firstadream.blogspot.com.
Hi Carolyn- such pretty flowers and I love the brown transfer china too!
ReplyDeleteLooks like we have a nice day for the 70 mile yard sale tomorrow. You were asking if the church has a sale- not this year but our Guatemala mission team has one at Higher Ground Cafe parking lot - across from the park on the main road. The Island Pregnancy Center sale is there too. It will be a busy day around Belfast tomorrow :)
HI Carolyn! Oh, another gorgeous post! I'm so amazed you can remember all the names of your plants! :)
ReplyDeleteMuch beauty at your home!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Of course, the David Austins are my favorite, but they're all gorgeous. Such a wonderful variety you have! :) – g
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! I was wasting the last little bit of time this morning, checking in at Cindy's, and I couldn't help but click on your lovely rose. It's great to 'meet' someone who loves roses as much as I do! There's just something about the Austins that make me sigh whenever I see them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
