Hello everyone,
I wanted to pop by to thank all of you for your kind and loving messages in the past week as my Mom has been in hospital. To give you a little update-Mom had surgery last night for a bowel obstruction and she has come through the surgery as well as expected and she slept peacefully all morning. the next few days will be very difficult but the Doctor seems hopeful that all can go well if there are no complications such as infection or pneumonia.
My Mom was still pleading for a cup of tea( no fluids for a few days - only ice chips ,and not even that for hours before surgery) as she was going into surgery last night. So please pray that we will soon be enjoying the best cup of tea we ever had!
Thank you again- it is amazing to have support from friends all over the world.
Take care,
Carolyn

ReplyDeleteHope your mother is enjoying a lovely cup of tea real soon! I wonder if doctors realize how horrible it is for us to be separated from our very necessary tea. There's just something so restorative about a hot cup of nicely brewed tea!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you all and have lifted your sweet Mom up in prayer.
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you,
d

Thank you for the update....your family has been in our prayer circle.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you could ask the doctor if your sweet mama could get a shot of caffeine? A literal injection? They gave me one every day when I was in hospital on IV fluids only. Helped the headache!
And how sweet of you to post pics at a time like this!
Lovely to visit. Lovely your mum is doing much better. Have a wonderful day ~ Alexandra

Hello Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteI hope your Mom is feeling better and on the mend. I know how fragile older people can be when they are ill. You and your Mom are in my prayers.
Warm hugs, Laura
Your mom is blessed to have a daughter who will walk with her in love during this season of her life's journey. I pray that God will touch her with His healing hand. Take care of yourself in the process...you need to be healthy to maintain your strength to better help your mom...not to even mention that I'm sure that the rest of your life/family goes on as usual. It can be exhausting. Thank you for letting us know so that we can pray for you. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteOh, I do hope you will be able to have that lovely cup of tea soon. All the best to your mom.
ReplyDeleteLove Elzie
Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteI am one of the silent contingent that has kept up with your delightful blog for some time without ever stopping in to tell you "thanks" for such a pleasant haven.
I began reading blogs in earnest in 2008 as I was coping with the deaths (from cancer) of my entire small family. I have sat at the ICU bedsides of my beloved husband, mother, and mother-in-law and helped them through (as best I could) multiple surgeries such as your mother went through.
Unfortunately, after visiting them with such great suffering for amost three and a half years, God took them all away from me anyway. At least I know that He took them home.
So I know what it is like to go through what you have been dealing with.
And I know what it is like to lose everything (I retired from my long-time teaching career to care for them, so that is gone, as well).
I send my prayers that all continues well with you and your mother. God bless you! Thank you so much for providing a lovely respite from care and sorrow via your work with your blog.
