Hello everyone,
We are enjoying some beautiful sunny summer weather and I hope you are too. Today, I cut a big bouquet of peonies but it will pretty much be the last of my peonies until next summer. I have enjoyed them for the last six weeks but sadly their days are numbered now so I wanted to share them with you once more.
With my bouquet of peonies from the garden along with some Lady's Mantle I made this peony wreath.
I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
I hung it here in the kitchen on a plainer background.
You know how I love to do little vignettes so my hatbox and similar colored teapot made an appearance.
close up of the wreath
Hanging around with angels.
I had a few blooms left over.
Don't you just love bouquets of peonies?
This is the base of the wreath-I bought it at a garden centre for $3. at the end of the season sale a few years ago. It is a wire form with florist brick stuffed inside and covered with sphagnum moss.
I am wondering if it would dry nicely if I put it in our attic where it is hot ,dry and dark does anyone have any ideas? Otherwise,I will keep it moist and enjoy it while it lasts. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the last of my peonies- but never fear the roses are doing well and I will be sharing photos of them soon! Ha!
Today, I am joining Cindy again for Show and Tell Friday at My Romantic Home. There is lots to see there again today.
Thank you for visiting,
Carolyn

ReplyDeleteYour wreath is just stunning. Peonies are one of my favorite flowers ever. The scent takes me back to my grandma's garden every time. She had her entire back yard full of peonies.
ReplyDeleteOh..my those peonies are gorgeous. I only get about 3 or 4 peonie blooms on my plants each year. And this year they got hailed all over and the blossoms got ruined before I even saw them...oh...well always next year. Your's are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn.....You did a fabulous job on the wreath! It is gorgeous! I have no idea if you can dry peonies....wouldn't that be great! Good luck!~Hugs, Patti

Caroline,
ReplyDeleteYour peonies are exquisite as is your blog. Thank you for sharing.
Deborah
As always, such beautiful flowers! Peonies are truly a treasure in the garden, so lush and lovely, and they last only a little while. Yours are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove your peony wreath Carolyn! I have one lone little peony left and it's starting to fade. A funny thing happened to that bush - it was loaded with buds when we left to the States and when we got back only 1 bud matured - all the others turn black and dried up. Not frost because the other bush was fine. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteHope you can get to the beach on these lovely summer days!
What a gorgeous wreath! I hope it dries well for you. It made for such an enchanting photo with your lovely birdhouse.
ReplyDeleteYour peonie wreath is beautiful! You did a fabulous job. :)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing your roses!
~ Jo :)
Hello Carolyn.. A gorgeous wreath! Don't you hate to seen the Peonies go? I pruned the last of my stragglers yesterday. I was thinking you must dry this to enjoy later... is too pretty to only have for a moment:-)

The peony wreath is a great idea, it must smell heavenly. Take care:)
ReplyDeleteOh Carolyn, I so enjoyed you sharing the last of your peony's. We can't grow them here and they are one of my favorite flowers. Anytime I see them in a photo I just inmesh myself in them. They are the most beautiful of flowers. I know it is sad when their blooming time comes to an end but the beauty of that is that they will bloom again next year and the anticipation of that is so worth the wait. In the meantime, I always enjoy your photos of those most beautiful of flowers.

such beauty. I adore peonies, but it is spectacular how nature gives us so many beautiful flowers to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if they would dry well, but it must be worth a try.
Your wreath is gorgeous!!! I love peonies but haven't had any luck growing them here!
ReplyDeleteYour peony wreath is beautiful. I would definately suggest drying. I have dried mine hanging and they do look like roses. I just love the colors and your pictures are good enough to frame.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful wreath you created Carolyn! It's picture...no postcard perfect. How long do the flowers stay fresh usually?

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful collection of vignettes of your gorgeous peony wreath. I love peonies too, and yes the season is just too short. But you have captured them in your lovely photographs forever.

Stunning. What beautiful colors!

Beautiful as usual dear Carolyn! Everytime I see peonies I think I should plant more peonies (only have one bush) but I'm a very impatient gardener... they take too long to grow... ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend

Adore the wreath. It's just incredible to have so many of your own peonies! Sheer abundance. That's the most I've seen outside of a peony farm we visited in Oregon. :)
