Hello everyone,
We got some much needed rain yesterday with cooler temperatures and a few showers this morning so it is a good day here for some comfort food. The rhubarb is ready now in our garden so the first thing I make every year with it is rhubarb cobblecake.
After cutting up the rhubarb you cook it on top of the stove with sugar etc. (recipe follows)
This base is then topped with drop biscuit dough.
It is so good!
some whipped cream
and a cup of tea and I am ready to enjoy some old fashioned comfort food!
Here is the recipe in case you would like to try it.( click on to enlarge)
The flowers on the table are a pansy geranium and' freckles'
viola.
you can see where it got the name 'freckles'
I hope you enjoy a little comfort food today!Take care,
Carolyn

Your little girls' tea party was so sweet. And nice to see you in your pretty kitchen with your apron on, and the stains on the recipe (we all love that; makes us know it is "tried and true." It looks delicious. You always brighten my day with your posts!
Thank you, YYUUMM!! XXOO
This comfort food sounds good! I love the freckle face plant. I will have to keep an eye out for it when I go to the nursery. XO MARY

Hello Carolyn,
Mmm rhubarb delight! I like your viola, never seen a freckled one before.
Thanks for the recipe,

Completely heavenly, Carolyn! I ADORE rhubarb and used to make apple-rhubarb cobbler as a child when we had an orchard. How lovely to see you in your charming kitchen, too! I DO wish you lived closer. :) – g
Oh, wonderful! Podso said it all perfectly in the very first comment! Hmmm, I could say that those flowers are new to me and very pretty.
I do have one funny thing to add. My next (and last) installment of my family's adventure at Old Sturbridge Village involves a very pretty farmer's daughter who had just made a rhubarb pie. It's desperately hot, today, though. All I want is h2o. I'll have to save this for another rainy day.
Love, katy Noelle

Hi Carolyn: I have a similar rhubarb recipe to yours but it is a Pillsbury one called Rhubarb-Strawberry Puff. It is a favourite of the family. Looked delicious on your fine china. Valerie
