I hope you all are enjoying your weekend. I am being a bit lazy here today after our birthday party for our two sons both born on this day but 5 years apart. All our little grandchildren running around after a turkey dinner kept it almost as lively as when our own boys were little and had their friends over for a party. Rather efficient of me to have them on the same day so one party would do,don't you think?
Anyway,it is colder here today so I played a little with my camera indoors so what better then some dainty china to practice on. My camera is a Canon Rebel XTi as I am sometimes asked and I love it.
I enjoy reading tutorials on photography once in awhile to try to learn something new but if anyone has any tips you would like to share I would love to hear them. I know I use use A tripod but I do find it restricting so don't use it often-what about you do you use one? I did a little test last summer on taking some of the same shots with and without one but couldn't really see a difference but this summer I am going to practice using it again on different types of shots to see if it gives me a sharper pic.

Sweet Up-North Mornings...

ReplyDeleteThe heart match perfectly

I love the Bavarian china, Carolyn. I do believe a sister of mine in California has the exact same pattern. So delicate and lovely. I hope YOU have a nice weekend. So far so good. Take care. Sincerely, Susan
ReplyDeleteCarolyn, Your fine china is LOVELY - especially Bridal rose!!! Wow! You have presented and photographed them beautifully. Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteRegarding Charleson, "With downtown van pick-up for 2-6 people, Charlstonian guide takes discerning visitors by van to her friends' private homes and gardens. 9:30 to 12:30 tour ends with lunch served on Cantonware at Laura's overlooking Ashley River. Reservations: Laura Wichman Hipp 843-577-5896." It was LOTS of fun! Laura is an awesome southern lady, and she took us to gorgeous homes with formal gardens - so much different than my cottage gardens. Have a great trip, Carolyn, and Happy birthday to your sons!

Dear Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteOh, I love soft and sweet! The Bridal Rose is my favorite. There is just something about pink and white china. Yours is beautiful, and I enjoyed seeing all of your lovely photos! You are a gifted photographer!!! I have a Nikon D40 and I need to learn how to use it better. I don't usually use a tripod, but my husband said that I should try it more often, like you I find it constricting when I have used it. I have read to never use a flash, so I normally don't, but many times my photos are blurry. This is where my husband said the tripod would help. I think natural light helps a great deal, but though we have a lot of windows in our home, we have a lot of very tall pine trees surrounding us! I would love to be a better photographer, and take beautiful photos as you do. Any tips you could share would be greatly appreciated! Do you ever use your flash?
I am so glad both of your son's birthday celebration went so well. Yes, it was very efficient of you to have them the same day! :)
Love and blessings,
Paula
P.S. The heart is beautiful too!
I love your teacups, they are so pretty and the colors are so soft. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
ReplyDeleteYes, very dainty! Pretty soft photos! I don't use my tripod as much as I should. It does help with the shaking and does make for a sharper photo. It is such a hassle to get it out and try not to trip over it! Enjoy your weekend, Carolyn.~ Patti
ReplyDeleteCarolyn there is nothing I could begin to tell you to do to improve your skills as a photographer. Your photos always take my breath away and these are no exception.
ReplyDeletehugs
Lovely pics.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it exciting getting things done in the house? Enjoy. xx
Carolyn, all your china are so beautiful - I marvel at your never ending collection. I have recently bought a couple of small items from the English pottery maker, Burleigh Pottery. I thought of you when I first set eyes on them...:)
ReplyDeletePretty pretty and more pretty!
ReplyDeleteI seldom use the tripod..never think of having it right there with me. It gives us a better macro image..I find I use the tripod more in the garden when photographing flowers.
BTW which mosaic maker do you use?I use Flickr.
Continuing having fun photography "pretty"!
Hi Carolyn,
ReplyDeleteYour teacups look beautiful! I love everything about them, the colours, the patterns, but I think you already know ;-)! Your birthday party sounds good. I am glad you enjoyed it.
I have never been to the U.S., but Charleston looks very attractive with all the old houses. I found some pictures on the internet. I can see you and your husband walking around there...Are you going soon? If so I wish you a nice and sunny stay!
Lieve groet, Madelief
So glad you had a wonderful BD for your sons. Amazing they were born on the same date. I could look at your gorgeous china, especially the cups, all day! That heart is exquisite: love, love, love it. ♥
ReplyDeleteAs always, lots of lovely China on pictures. I just love all your cups and other things.
ReplyDeleteAnd the cupboard in your former post was so lovely. Liked the net on the doors and the "feet" underneath.
Hope you have a nice day.
Love Elzie
What a darling teacup your Bridal Rose is! Such a pretty pattern. Hope you're having a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
Hi Madeline,
ReplyDeleteThat sounds good but I can't connect with that address.
Carolyn
I love those rose patterns. I will be posting some pictures of delicate china in a few days which I took at a local antique store. Everytime I admire someone's photos on a blog it turns out they use a Canon Rebel. Someday.....
