Soup Tureens

It is Friday already and I realized that this is show and tell day at My Romantic Home so I hope I am not too late to join in. Today I am sharing my collection of soup tureens. This first one I bought at tjmaxx on a trip to Maine a few years ago.

This pretty blue and white one is old and I bought it at an auction sale last year.I have a collection of blue and white transferware so this fits in well.

Now this one I found at my favorite antique shop and it was cheap so how could I leave it behind.

This one some of you have seen before and I took it back from England in my carry on bag.

I love red and white transferware and this came from a local thrift shop.

I know this is more of a vegetable bowl but I have used it as a soup tureen before I bought all the other soup tureens I really needed!
Thank you Cindy at My Romantic Home for hosting this event.

Thank you for visiting me,

Have a great weekend,

Carolyn

  4. Wow; these are so beautiful. You should do what the blogger who has the blog "Color between the lines" does. He had a party in which the participants bring soup. He used his tureens (his were all alike) and served the soups in teacups. Soup tureens are so homey!

  10. I love them all...souptureens always make me happy, they make me think about familymeals, joining together with a bowl of soup and taking time to listen while the soup is still too hot to eat....

  18. I just recently got my first soup tureen. Probably never use it for soup. I bought it for the colors and the fact that it was another chicken to display! Yours are very pretty. And I bet you use yours!

  20. Those soup tureens are all beautiful, but the red transferware is to die for!

Can you tell me the pattern name of the green/white transferware in your September 29th entry? That has to be one of the prettiest I have EVER seen.

I just love your soup tureens!! I was blessed enough to find an old ironstone tureen at an antique store for $5.00...your collection is just gorgeous! Thanks for inspiring me to get mine out and make a pot of soup this weekend! Beautiful post as always! Miss Bloomers

  26. What beautiful tureens! New ones seem to be hard to find. I think people don't eat soup so much today. But the antique ones are so lovely and can't you just imagine the lovely dinner with the elegant soup taking center stage back when life was a bit slower?
