Memory Garden

                                                                                    Hello everyone,

Last year I planted a small garden bed in
memory of my Mom who passed away in
January 2015 and this summer it felled in
nicely so I thought I would share it with
                                                               you.

                                                                       A little garden angel watches
                                                                       over it.
                                                                        An antique watering can sits
                                                                         on the cement garden bench
but there is room to sit and
                                                                         and enjoy good memories of
                                                                         my sweet mama.

                                                                      Cosmos ,dahlias, knockout roses,
                                                                      lavender and boxwood fill this
                                                                      little memory garden.

                                                                              Dahlias

The bed is at one end of
                                                                             our Allee Garden.
                                                   So although the garden season
will soon be coming to a close
soon I hope to enjoy it a few weeks
longer before a frost takes it for
                                                              another year.
                                                                                    Thank you for visiting,

                                                                                                        Carolyn

I'm sure your mom is smiling down on her beautiful remembrance garden. She was very lucky to have a daughter like you.

In our family we celebrate those who have gone before by eating their favorite food on his/her birthday.

Thank you Carolyn for posting this Memory Garden. This would be perfect for me to make! I have been wanting to make a Memory garden for my son, who died in July at the age of 23 years old. He always loved seeing my garden and now I'd like to have a place where I can see him in the garden. Butterflies and birds that will stay around me, while in my garden, also makes me think of him.

Thank you for posting,

Wendy

What a beautiful garden to sit and recall all the beautiful memories of your mom! I have a little space in my flower garden with angels where I spend time thinking of my precious daughter who passed away two years ago.

This is such a lovely memorial to your mother! I love the colors. Makes me want to do something similar. I hope you have many days left before the frost!

Such a beautiful way to memorialize your mother. Thank you for sharing. My condolences.

My own mom passed only a month later than yours. We could not afford a headstone or even a place in a cemetery. She is burried at a family plot at a relatives home overlooking a river and a beautiful garden.

To memorialize her I made a cement theheadstone for her of pieces of broken china, real freshwater pearls, hand carved coral roses and a tile bearing her photo. Under those I used bakeable clay and imprinted her birth date, death date and her full name. It was placed over her for all time.

What a beautiful Memory Garden, Carolyn and how lucky you were to have had your Mother with you for so long. Such a blessing. My mother was so young when she passed. I remember feeling like an orphan. She was my best friend as it should always be. You have inspired me to create a Memory Garden now. Perhaps that will make me enjoy the task of weeding or at least keep it picked up just as she liked my room to be. lol Hugs
