An Island Autumn Picnic

Hello,
This past weekend my husband and I decided to take
a couple of days and enjoy touring the Island.
So,one day we had a day trip down east and the
next it was the western part of the Island~
Prince Edward Island .

We had beautiful sunny warm weather so
we took along a picnic to enjoy outdoors.
The antique quilt was a $2 find at the 70 mile
                                                 yard sale.

A thermos of tea, some healthy sandwiches
with a sweet treat was just what we needed,
by a small stream in a park.

We traveled small back country roads.
And stopped to enjoy a small lake where
the trees where taking on their autumn colors.
The last few days have made quite a difference
in the landscape along the roads but also here
                                                      in our garden.

We enjoyed beautiful sunsets both nights
                                                  on our drive back home.

I hope you enjoyed coming along for the drive on
         an early autumn weekend.

I am joining Rose Chintz Cottage for Tea Time Tuesday and
Bernideen's Tea Time Blog for Tea in the Garden.

Take care,
Carolyn

Late Season Beauties

I hope you enjoyed your weekend. We had some summery                                                                 weather here so we made the most of it ~ touring
the Island from one end to the other.

This morning I went out to the garden to pick some
flowers for bouquets to indoors. The roses are
still giving me a few blooms to enjoy.
I love this late season beauty.

A few bouquets from last week.
Even a single rose adds charm.

My morning beauties are now being enjoyed
                                                 in the kitchen.
I am joining Lavender Cottage today for Mosaic Monday with
                           Judith .
Well, I have been invited for tea with some of my good friends
so I better pick another bouquet to take along with me.

                                                            Thanks for visiting,

                                                                         Carolyn

Colorful Vintage Style

I mentioned earlier that my friend Snow and I gave
The Gardener's Cottage a vintage style makeover so
today I am sharing some photos of it with you.
There is a screen between the enclosed garden and the
cottage but soon we will be closing the little french doors
                                   for the winter months.
We covered the chairs with vintage chenille bedspreads
and the little footstool with pretty fabric.

                                                             Love the bouquet.
On the other side of the room is the old iron bed with Snow's
colorful linens. Even the window treatments have gone vintage.

The vanity dresser was a 70 mile yard sale find several
                                   years ago.
                                                           Lots of pretty pinks.

                                                            A pink vintage alarm clock.

It is fun to see the difference fabric and a few accessories can make
                                      in a short time.
If you would like to see several  looks for The Gardener's Cottage
                                      you can click Here.

There is an Etsy Show at the Murphy Center on Saturday where you can
stop by and visit  my friend Snow and see her beautiful handcrafted articles
that are for sale. There will be other Island artists etc. as well.

                                                                        Thank you for visiting,

                                                                                      Carolyn

Sweet & Simple

                                                               Hello everyone,

On this beautiful autumn day, I stopped to take a few
shots of some simple things that caught my eye today.
The beautiful plates above were from a quick stop
at the 70 mile yard sale. The small bouquet I picked from
                                the garden last evening.

Aqua is one of my favorite colors so I
can't leave behind a pretty plate with
aqua touches at a thrift shop it seems.

I also grabbed this antique plate for $1.

I will show the rest of my yardsale treasures soon.
I have a couple of tours from Japan tomorrow so
I better tidy things up a bit around here.

Hope you have a lovely day!

Carolyn

A Little Vintage

                                                                     Hello everyone,

We are having some warm weather here this week so
after my tour I spent some time enjoying being out in
the garden and played in the Gardener's Cottage for
                                        awhile.
There is a vintage theme going
                                                       on in there now...more later.
A pretty teapot with layers of vintage linens.
There is still lots of flowers for bouquets
in our garden. However, some shrubs are
starting to show their autumn colors.
Love this vintage hot chocolate pot.
Some of our phlox is still blooming.
Love this old teapot and plate.
My garden angel is still in the rose
garden but soon will be coming
indoors for the fall and winter.

A little off the topic but ......

We ended our day with an evening walk along the
beach~ it was Brackley Beach this time. Beautiful!!!

I am joining Sandi at Rose Chintz Cottage for Tea Time
                            Tuesday today.

I am having a little time out with my
daughter today so I better run!

Hope you have a lovely day,

                                                                                Carolyn
