Summer Garden Tea

                                                                        Hello Everyone,
I thought you might enjoy seeing some
of the photos from our Summer Garden
Tea last I hosted last Saturday.
You might have noticed that I love
lace so I layered myself in my lacy
                                                             favorites.

Since we had to groups for the tea and tour
this year by making some changes to the screened
porch we were able to seat 23 people comfortably
Which worked good as we had a few 10 min.
showers now & then but overall the weather was perfect!

It was scones and tea this year
                                                                   with preserves and devonshire cream.

I used some of my pretty china ~ love these pretty
                                                                 plates.

Some of our lovely visitors that also attended
last year's Downton Abbey Tea.I love those hats,
pearls and even some lace gloves!

                                                                        Good friends!
                                                               Love the fascinator, Debbie!

Of course, we had lots of garden
flowers for bouquets on all the tables etc.

Margaret and I had a similar style this year....notice
                                                     her beautiful handbag!
Thank you to all who helped out and to all who attended
                                                    as well.

Since, this tea was so much fun I have decided to do a
Vintage Afternoon Tea for aprox. 20 on Friday, August 22.
To change things up a bit I have decided to add a house tour
as well since I had several requests.
So,if you or anyone you know would like to attend
please email as soon as possible. Last time I had 45
spaces and they sold out in a few days with some
who were disappointed to be unable to get tickets.

Now, I need to go and check out my
                                                          stash of vintage linens!
If you would like to see last years
                                                            tea check here.

I am joining Between Naps on the Porch
                                                             for Tablescape Thursday.

                                                                  Thank you for visiting,

                                                                                 Carolyn

Lauriane

Oh such lucky ladies.

You and Margaret look especially lovely.

I am so happy some ladies wore head coverings, and even some gloves, how grand.

Wish I could be there on the 22nd!

Oh, how lovely. I would've loved to come! I've been thinking of inviting some friends for tea this year out on the porch. I don't have the wonderful lace you are wearing but I could figure out something and find a hat!. Do you make your on clotted cream?

Beautiful photos! Where on the Island are you located? I'm also curious to know if your family is related to the Aitkens on the east end of the Island... I have noted through some geneaology research that the daughter of George Aitken (who built the stone house in Lower Montague) has spelled her name 'Aiken' on her headstone in Georgetown. I am very interested in my family history, and when I came across your blog, wondered if perhaps we are related :)

Hello Carolyn, What a gorgeous tea! I loved all the chine and the hankies hanging up really caught my eye! You looked so beautiful in the lace, and all the ladies looked well decked out. Your scones looked simply delicious. You had Devonshire cream and I have seen many different recipes. Mine is very simple and delicious. Add 2 Tbs. of fresh lemon juice to 1 pint of heavy whipping cream in a jar. Shake and leave on counter over night then refrigerate until serving. It is the best ever! It is thick and not too sweet and goes so well with jams and jellies.

The tea looks so very beautiful! I love all of your china patterns, especially the mixed china and the aqua setting. I love how your lace ensemble fits in with the feeling as well. Since I'm relatively new to blogging, I haven't seen your settings before. So happy to have been introduced here... :-)
