Victoria by the Sea in Winter

                                                                 Happy Weekend!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend. It has been very cold here for the past few days and although I enjoy winter I am looking forward to a little break from this bitter cold. In a couple of days it is going above freezing and then some rain-just in case you needed a weather report!
One day last week we went for a drive when we had had a fresh snowfall so it was beautiful. We usually go to Victoria by the Sea a few times in summer when it is a busy little village with tourists etc.so we decided to check it out in winter.
It is quieter in winter as many of the shops and restaurants are closed for the season.
It is only a half hour drive from our home.

Just outside the village is this lovely old church that now has a cafe and a dental office in it.Sad to see so many of our little country church closing down.
A little further up the road we went for a walk in the woods where there is a summer tourist attraction-a car life museum.

                                          Sorry,I couldn't resist.
It was a beautiful day for a walk.

                                                        Country roads.

Thank you for coming along for the drive. If you would like to see Victoria by the Sea in summer click here.

                                                    I really loved their lupins!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Carolyn

WOW.

That top photo should be made into your next Christmas cards - or at the very least on a Calender or a poster.

Absolutely fabulous!

Such a quaint village Carolyn, so typical of PEI and why people are attracted to your province.
Interesting about the small country churches; we have several small ones in our community struggling to stay open. Who knows, they may become someone's home or a cafe too.

Ohhhh, loved the tour, Carolyn. I also checked on what it looks like in summer and ohhhhh, it made me YEARN for warm weather and flowers!

Well, guess it will come soon enough, right? We must be patient.

I'd like to stay at that inn in one of the photos!

Take care and thanks for inviting us along! Susan

Thank you for the wonderful tour around your snowy winterland, Such pretty houses, so different from the stone houses here in France. Your picture perfect photos, all worthy to be post cards, or in a glossy hardback book. It looks like a good climate for Lupins they are spectacular.

What a nice litte town is that, I love your snow pictures I like snow as specialy fresh snow. Over here the snow is over it is raining at the moment. But we had a lot of snow this year. The last 4 winters ware beautiful with frost and snow and before that winters it was no ice and no snow. The children like ice skating and if we had no frost then we have no ice. Have a nice Sunday and a lovely new week take care with all the snow.
Greetings Petra.

Good Morning, Carolyn!

Ahhh, memories...Midge and I visited the church cafe when we visited your Island, and we enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Landmark Cafe in Victoria-By-The-Sea, too. I wish we had gotten back there to have tea at Mrs. Proffitt's before leaving the Island, but there'll be a next time. :-) Their deck chairs, then painted a gorgeous pink, actually inspired some fun things for Pink Days In Bloom last summer. :-) Inspiration can come from so many places...

And, do you remember those beauuutiful Spode teacups, the white ones that seemed as though covered in eyelet with a few delicate rosebuds strewn inside and on the handles? I remember you took some photos at your kitchen table before we dug into you delicious pie and scones! Lol I'd love to have an entire set like those cups. Maybe I'll share them in a post soon...They came from The Coach House antiques shop in Victoria-By-The-Sea, as did my pink transferware teapot, cream and sugar; albeit the set is a reproduction, I love it just the same.

Thanks for taking me on a trip down Memory Lane today. I thoroughly enjoyed it, as always.

Hugs,
Linda at Beautiful Ideas

Your photo's look beautiful Carolyn. It must have been a delight walking through the snow and enjoying its beauty.

In Rotterdam the snow melted away today. After two weeks of ice and snow I don't really mind. I hope we will get some spring weather soon. Can't wait to see the first flowers in my garden.

Happy new week! Stay warm!
